What's new

DFW pelted with hail

FWAAA, nobody expects a pot of gold to open up but I understand your sarcasm. The time to make a statement was probably even before the 2010 TA but kicking AA in the balls in BK would just feel so good right now. Ultimately only the passengers would be hurt and further damage the reputation of union workers.

Overtime is steady at AA whether a field trip or locally. The only thing being turned down is AMT day chicken dinners. WOW. That sends a message !!!!!

To my fellow union members, I would hope that as the layoffs start that we see every hour we work on overtime as a slap in the face to our union brothers that have hit the street.

Well put AA89 !

Only a FOOL would "sit at the table of his ENEMY, to break bread" !!

Of course all the Big seniority guys who worked every hour OT before the BK was announced, will CONTINUE to do so, AFTER. But I wonder, if given the chance of a "do over" if the Junior guys who grabbed every hour of OT BEFORE the BK announcement would do it again ?

And finally, for all the Junior AA "kiss asses" who grabbed every hour of OT, Who did so KNOWING that it could come back and bite them in the arse,.......and who are getting furloughed PERMANENTLY, I have a wish for you.

I hope you lose your house, car and I hope your ol' Lady divorces you !

That sound too extreme ?? Maybe, but you brought it upon youself.

It IS what it IS !

AND NO,......this OT "sickness" is not just a TUL thing, it applies to those "infected" by the OT sickness in JFK and BOS as well !

I hate to say this but until the government forces maintenance to stay stateside for American airlines (airlines in America not AMR) or the trend shifts to where airlines find it more profitable to do maintenance state side (and I do believe with fuel rising, over time, this WILL happen) aircraft maintenance is an obsolete career in America. There is not much of a future in it. It is a career that is going to lose year after year.

This is not meant to insult our fine AMT's. Most of you are highly intelligent, skilled, talented tradesmen (I say trade and not craft because craft to me insinuates a manufacturing element from raw materials). I do believe what you do is very skilled and very necessary. I do believe it should stay in the USA. However, as long as you have to compete with super low cost third world labor your going to lose.

I do hope that my point of view offers insight instead of inducing anger. It is hard to argue with the validity of this conclusion when AMT's have been losing year after year after year.

I do hope the trend reverses.

Unfortunately it is going to cost lives and quite a few of them in a high profile tragedy for the government to wake up and do something with regard to the "Cheaper is better" and "Outsource Everything" mentality regarding aircraft maintenance.

In twenty years, once corporations have fully succeeded in demolishing the middle class, both financially and politically, maintenance work will return to the United States as up-and-coming countries with superior wealth take advantage of our cheap labor. You'll have your job back, but you'll be living in poverty.

And to get maintenance and all other business to return to the United States, the attack on the business at the federal level must cease.

To do this and the workforce not being fully decimated,
taxation had to change.

I would prefer the www.fair tax.org Fair Tax.

This only a federal solution.

You can thank Ronald Reagan and Elizabeth Dole for the permitting of overhaul in foreign countries.

You are locked onto to the Republican bad, Democratic good train or bus. Both parties are guilty.

No I am not, the truth is Elizabeth Dole changed the FARs when she was Secretary of Transportation under Ronald Reagan that permitted American based aircraft owned by the airlines to be outsourced to foreign countries, thats the facts. Take the blinders off.

It's interesting, many go after Regan for his reforms on the air traffic controllers but the truth is both Carter and FDR also brought on reforms and challenged organized labor in the public and private sector alike.

Before anyone attacks Gov. Walker, similar reforms are being undertaken in MA, MI, NY and other states without the same fanfare. The public deserves a fiscally responsible government and public sector workers should face the same realities of middle class households.

Who is Regan, The US never had a President name Regan, now we did have one named Ronald Reagan, who permitted the outsourcing of american aircraft all over the world without the same oversight that happens in the US.
