Dignity and Respect

This is how AMFA's constitution demonstrates dignity and respect to its members. Article XIV of AMFA's constitution that outlines how members can be put on trial, fined and even expelled from the Union for such offenses as:

"Use of indecent or profane language during a meeting"

"Conduct disgraceful to himself and the Association"

"Crossing an AMFA picket line"

"Acting in any manner to circumvent, defeat, or interfere with the collective bargaining between the Association and an employer"

"Acting in any manner which is against or derogatory to the best interest of the Association"

Article XIV, Section 4 provides that the "jury" assigned to hear the charges consists of a five member committee appointed at the sole discretion of the Local Union President, or you can be put on trial before AMFA's entire National Convention. Article XIV, Section 7 specifies you have the right to have a lawyer represent you during this trial, provided the lawyer is a member of AMFA-how realistic is that?

In other words, AMFA has the right to put you on trial conceivably in front of its entire National Convention, with no right to counsel unless you can find a lawyer who happens to be a member of AMFA, Note: amfa has sent letters on at least two different occasions requesting money from their members before they would pursue a grievance! Per Lee Seham Attorney) for such a nebulous offense as "acting in a manner which is against or derogatory to the best interest of AMFA," where you risk being fined, or worse expelled from the union (which in most cases means being fired by your employer).

Read carefully! You will see amfa National is dictating to the Members and in fact does not even trust their own membership!

One of amfa’s Slogans has been:

The Members vote on “all Letters of Agreementsâ€￾

In fact this is the Farthest from the Truth!

That's right you prefer to support the deal cutting by the twu and a union whose V.P. John Orlando flew on a struck carrier.

I dont see where you support your claim.

The fact is at AMFA the members choose who represents them at all levels within the organization. Members get accountability right to the top. All your list shows is that the accountability flows both ways, unlike the TWU where the members can be held accountable by the International but the International can not be held accountable by the members.

With the TWU, Sonny Hall, who the members do not get to vote for APPOINTS the ATD director, Jim Little, who has complete control over, and can alter, without consent our CBA. Sonny Hall can bring members and elected officers up on charges, then he picks who will render judgement, not the peers of the accused but fellow subordinate International officials. Members can not pursue charges against the International because the International itself decides if the charges have merit. International officers of the TWU are never put before the members.

With AMFA if such a thing should happen the members could start a recall drive, which is provided in the Constitution. Sonny Hall removed the right of recall at the 1997 Convention. Only Sonny can remove officers outside of an election.

Could you tell us why Burchette resigned one of his International posts again, or should we ask Joe Hasen?

MYTH or FACTUAL BOB? I hear this all the time but as of yet nothing documented to prove your point? I have yet to hear of any local or natl officer ever being recalled? If it is the right of the membership surely some unhappy member has exercised this option?

With AMFA if such a thing should happen the members could start a recall drive, which is provided in the Constitution

Bob do you know of this ever happening? All these years and no one has ever been upset enough with Delle or the Mc Cormick group to seek their removal? Which is more democratic? ANSWER............TWU

If your want proof about Accountability look at the AMFA Constitution,
If you want an example of recall- I personally know of a recall that happened in SFO local, the pres. was thrown out of office! Almost immeditly AMFANUTs web site said there was Chaos at the Oakland Local- and AMFA causes Chaos!
