What's new

Disruptive Pax

WestCoastGuy,

Hey I got your back.....sometimes people just do not believe how crazy people act when they don't get what they THINK they deserve! I really feel for you guys who work with some of these passengers face-to-face......I work in res so I just HEAR the craziness!

When I tell my non-airline friends some of the things that are said to me and others, they think I'm joking! NOT! In my humble opinion I feel that people today(not all, of course....but the percentage is growing) have no idea what the word "manners" means. The rudeness and demands and tantrums and attitude is unbelieveable. And remember, I am not calling these people, they are calling me! The attitude starts right away, and they do not even have a reservation! Phone etiquette should be mandatory training, like driver's license renewal. I do not want to hear you chomping your food or gum in my ear(remember, I did not interrupt their meal, they called me!) I do not want to hold 5 times during a conversation while you answer your annoying ringing cellphone(NOONE, except the Pope and the President is that important) Why do you call to do business on your crappy cellphone, driving 100 miles an hour on the road with the windows down and the radio blaring? And then when you have asked to check flights and fares, develop an attitude because " I AM DRIVING, I CANNOT WRITE ANYTHING DOWN!" Then why in the *&$! did you call? Hey, I am just like everybody else and have a cellphone......but NEVER do any business on it! I can't hear them, they can't hear me, calls dump....it is so disrespectful.

And oh yes, the seat assignments! Sometimes I forget that they are the ONLY person who wants an aisle! What? There are no aisle seats? HOW CAN THAT BE!

Well, you see there are usually three seats on each side of the aisle and EVERYBODY wants an aisle....do you ever go to a movie theatre? Lots of center seats there! And guess what? We do not sell specific seats......we sell TRANSPORTATION! And NO...moving someone out of their seat just because YOU have to have an aisle seat is not an option! Guess what? Everybody who has an aisle seat on this flight HAD to have an aisle! "You need to look and see who is single and move them so I can sit with my boyfriend/husband/wife, etc. I am not going if I am not seated with them/in a aisle/up front/by the lavatory/in the back/directly over the wing." Hey, sounds like you need to lease a private jet! Public transportion is not for you!

Here's the best one....true story....passenger asked for an aisle, I politely told him I had none available but did have a window seat, and he could always check at the airport to see if there were any aisles open. Told me he was handicapped and HAD to have an aisle. So, I asked all the appropriate and legal questions concerning what type of assistance he needed........response.......he is over 6 foot tall and that is his handicap and I had better put him in a aisle or else! WHAT THE?

Becoming more common these days are passengers who call to complain about a large person in the seat next to them.....I paid for the whole seat and only got to use 3/4's of it....I demand a refund for the other 1/4! Hey, been there, done that, I understand.....however, people come in all shapes and sizes, and airline seats are all the same! All public transportation....

Ok, I am spent..

ET TU BRUTI, those comments were not assinine and may have been an accurate assumption. You werent there. However, your comments.....

A side effect from sinus medications is that it can cause people to be paranoid.
look at sudafed sinus box and look at the side effect

Madders,

I don't think anyone disputes the fact that all medication, including sinus medication does have side effects, including some that can cause drowziness, dizziness, and yes, even paranoid states.

All we are saying is that it is not an excuse......everyone is responsible for what they choose to put in their body, ie medication, alchohol, illegal substances, etc.

Who said it was sudafed anyway?

My all time favorite was a lady who screemed at me when I stopped her from preboarding ahead of wheel chair customers. She demanded to board ahead of everyone else. Since she obviously didnt need wheelchair assistance I asked her to please wait. She then threw her ticket at me and said very loudly, "If you must know, I started my period today and have cramps". I was at a loss of words and just let her head on down the jetway. Bon voyage!!

Absolutely hilarious. Thats one of those times you just step back, take the stub and say "enjoy your flight".

Anyways, there's absolutely no reason for people to act so ignorant or disrespectful to any employee. The guy needs to learn his lesson.

Hey now wait a minute...

I didn't call you on my cell phone until I had to get in my car after being on hold for 45 minutes on my landline.

And don't forget, I only called because I have to rebook the flight that USAir cancled.

And I wasn't eating when I called. Heck, I wasn't even hungry yet.

And when I called the first time that I was put on hold, I had a dam pen.

And besides that, by the time I get to talk to you, I have had to decide to "press 1" "press 2" "press 3" "press 4" so many dam times I don't remember if I called you or you called me...

...In fact, since I am now eating and you sound like a salesman, you must be one of those telemarketers!!! How come you interupted my dinner... the nerve!!!

 😀

BOO HOO BOO HOO

I worked 10 years in an Emergency Room. I have stories that will curl your toes. Being called names is small compared to what patients did to me over the years. If you don't like working with the public find a job that doesn't involve public interaction.

Plain and simple. So I stand by my earlier statement.

My response would have been.....well Mam I can remove that for you so you won't have those nasty cramps anymore.

Midol is available in the vending machines at the end of the concourse.

Enjoy that center seat then or dont fly, you dont need to complain.
Sure, its nothing on a daily basis. You said it yourself.
People reacting irrationally and irresponsibly?
What, are you defending that?

SKY HIGH states: AIR RAGE cases dominated the industry prior to 9-11. Hundreds of cases were being documented PER YEAR! AIRLINE EMPLOYEES have been spit on, slapped, kicked, bitten and had BONES broken.
Just ask, Angelo Sottile at Continental Airlines. HIS NECK WAS BROKEN!
I've personally spoken with an agent who was bitten on the arm by a passenger.

BOTTOM LINE:
This guy should be put on a NO FLY LIST, PAY FOR THE FUEL AND INCONVENIENCE TO PASSENGERS.

Your statement, if you dont like working with the public, find another job. That's about as bad as Airline Management CONDONING these "air rage" cases FOR YEARS!

ahhhh...the joys of working with the General Public.......probably upset over having to set in a center seat.....and having to turn off his cell phone......

People don't read thoroughly..........this statement was the catalyst to my statement.

Enough said.
