Do You Remember

$99 Carolina Fares

PI punch w/Rum......yummmm

Non Rev day trip anywhere for that matter, have not done one for yearssssssssss

Recognizing and building a rapport w/repeat customers, especially those with medical needs. My heart went out to them. St Jude's..etc

Flt 334 CLT, LYH, CHO, BWI..........mail flight from hell.

The days when about anybody could jumpseat, I had the opportunity twice. The DEN, BNA, CLT (727-100) filled up in BNA and I got to ride jumpseat. Another time July 5th, 1986(?) LGA-CLT, the Capt was a NYC native and pointed out all the landmarks, it was a beautiful, bright, clear day.

Seeing the cockpit leave the gate with people standing!!!

I took a call one day that REZ transferred to the coordinators office. PI had a marketing campaign one time called chair sale. It showed a row of 3 airplane seats. She wanted to buy the seats, at 1st I thought it was a joke, then I realized she wanted to but the seats to put in her house!!!! I tried to explain it but she got mad and said that was false advertising!!!

I was working the ramp when US began service to CLT. PI had the ramp contract in the early days. I was assigned to work the flight. A BAC111 packed full of bags.

Working the 1st flight to LAX and the debut of 1st class service, but the seats had not been converted, coach seating w/the middle seat empty and I think the hung a curtain to divide the "cabins". It was so festive at the gate all the big whigs, dignitaries, ribbon cutting, etc.

Ahhhh the old days 😀

I've done plane surfing on an ERJ145...Let's just say it's a bad idea once you hit the rear lav...big slam then you got a nasty bruise on your face as the other person behinds you slams into you slamming the wall again.

Oh that was fun 🙂 I miss Plane Surfing 🙂

Chicken Wings delivered from the Airways Hotel to the jetway

Delivering chicken wings to the ground staff at the next station on flights out of BUF. (The Airways phone number was actually on Dialnet, and employees from all over the system could phone in their orders.)

N838N Mount Mitchell Pacemaker - -the D B Cooper plane

N1639, the "Pee Dee Pacemaker", the very first 727-200 built (originally delivered as a Northeast Airlines "Yellowbird").

Remember that Pi put a sign.... over it??? Pi Airline of the year award???? Did DB Cooper just carve his initials??/
or something else.... is the A/C scrap metal now???

I always thought (and had heard) that the story of his carving something on the plane was fully fiction. I never saw evidence that he had done so, but I could be completely wrong. I have heard it bantered back and forth, but someone always steps up and declares it urban legend, so I'm not sure.

I can confirm that the plane has been scrapped. From PI, I remember it went on to Air 1 (remember them?!?) and then to Key Air. I think that's where it stopped before being scrapped.

FWIW, I well remember N1639! In fact, didn't PI get all of the former NE 727-100s? There were about 10 of them as I recall and DL didn't want them since they didn't mesh with the DL fleet of 727-200s --- my guess is because of engine types and other variables.

Gosh, those were the days.

Did anyone mention the old phl crewroom on the 3rd floor down the hall from the former US Air Federal Credit Union
Or that loud elevator that we took up to the crewroom on the 3rd fl.

Or even checking in for our trips via the telephone in the crewroom and hearing the pleasant automated voice telling us to "have a pleasant trip? Or something like that.

those were the days.

thanks for the memories.
