A senior IAM official told us last night that he is getting word that the Fleet Service Proposal has been passing in every city that has voted so far.

No doubt that is all of the Class 1 Cities, that will not be contracted out. I can only hope all of those YES voters get bumped off their shifts when senior agents start showing up at thier location after their station gets farmed out!!!
The voting should all be done at the same time instead of this way. Another Fishey IAM move that will allow them to know the results before all of the voting is done. They may as well just let the Class 1 stations vote and call it quits after that. It is more than obvious that the other stations mean nothing to the IAM since they can be contracted out anyway. The only plus to this all is that some of us wil be rid of paying dues to these Crooks for doing nothing for us in the first place.

Just curious, how does the IAM count the results of your votes since I hear voting is very antiquated. Is there an independent agency that verifies the results? Anyone know? 700?

Another deep dark secret that none of us will ever know. They take the little cardboard box away, and "Presto" they have the results soon afterwards. No chance they could have a modern day system like the CWA does. The only thing the IAM is up to date with is their dues increases, which rose again just prior to another wage cut.

You can change that after the vote. I'm sure AMFA is watching. Members should also demand (for your dues) and independent be present if one is not already.

under procedures specified by NLRB i believe.....chain of custody ,etc,etc....

None of us like what is happening, but the IAM is NOT the one to blame. We are backed into a corner without much hope.

We have to pick our fights! I heard that quote from a "fighting Machinist" 4 contract changes ago. So why do the workers keep voting to accept these packages.........

The problem boils down to one thing

spineless!

Hey! Didn't you hear the concession stand is closed!

😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😉

In '92 the results were back before the voting was completed.
How did they do that? LOL...

Can you guys just elect to stop paying dues and not be a union member? What would the consequences be?

[/quot I work in a union shop, which means I have to belong to the Union representing the department I am working in. Most of the dues that are paid bi-weekly go to the international, whereas just a few dollars are allocated to the local level. If I elected to become a dues objector, I would lose the right to voice my opinion at any of the local lodge meetings. The Local Lodge would lose my few dollars, but the International would still get their piece of my check every two weeks. B)

Heinrich,
I believe they are non-union. They just pay dues.

How much are union dues every two weeks? I can't believe that you HAVE to belong to the union. I'm having a hard time comprehending that.

I think it is about $50 per month or $600 per year for a mechanic. The mechanics I feel are not represented well. They need someone like Teddy Xidas looking out for them.
