East-What an embarrassment
West-How can we blame those Easties now that Crellin is gone? Who else can we fire?

Actually.. from my observation, it seems like the Easties complain over and over talking about the sandcastle and the koolaid and dougie and the desert.

Yeah, all of which can be filed under "what an embarrassment".

Maybe the Easties are complaining because they don't like being embarrassed. As opposed to the Sandbox which is so used to mediocrity, being embarrassed never crossed their minds.

Would you like an example?

frankly, they aren't entitled to the label of MEDIOCRITY. they suck.

The way we are being treated. FF Program-getting devalued, First Class Product-Makes Southwest look good, baggage-just take what you can carry with you, web site-the elementary school kids could do a better job, On-Line Check-In-Odds are better playing Craps in Atlantic City/Las Vegas. A CEO who is Not Responsive.

It's been like this for years at PHL. Many different factors are involved. Perhaps its geographical position, being from humble beginnings to the primary NE hub, maybe getting shafted for many years on money spent versus other places plays a part. Maybe the work ethic instilled early could be better. Maybe the decreped? condition of the airport itself plays a part.Maybe the seeming lack of disaster planning. Maybe just plain bad luck sometimes.Christmas melt down Springbreak melt down-as someone else said "the perfect storm". PHL is in a vunerable position and will continue to be for a long time to come. Witnessed many selfless acts of kindness on the parts of stranded employees. Saw some overwhelmed employees standing in there with a line a mile long in front of them. Also saw some pretty mean comments from employees leaving the airport that night on the train. Can't imagine the mean comments from some drunk spring breakers in the terminal.
There is enough good and bad to go round for this winter storm.

You know if this gang could ever improve and rise up to mediocrity, I'd probably be OK with things due to the ease of getting to PHL from where I live.
Maybe mediocrity should be a goal.

It would beat embarrassing.

my seatmate was stuck in the storm. he sad what I said before...if they would've just canceled he would be much happier...instead, they string u along making u think the flight is going to leave.

It wasn't OCC's call. some amateurs made the decision on pre-cancellations.

After talking to a friend who is a pilot who was also trying to get home- it was literally a matter of "degrees". A couple of degrees warmer or colder and things would have been different. Add to that the apparent hope of the powers that be that things would change oneway or the other for the better. Of course no one was told this in the terminal. The operative words were "ice pellets". As he said to customers who stopped him to ask questions, "It is not safe to fly in this weather." Who you going to believe?

it is not a question of safety...there is no doubt it was not safe...it was the amateur manner in which these situations continue to be handled...or should I say mishandled

I dont believe this for ONE SECOND! People used to complain to me that they werent pissed off about excess baggage charges, what pissed them off was the irregularity with which they were applied. You say you ALWAYS have the same amount of luggage but dont get charged all the time and you know the rules but need to take that much stuff. Ok, thats fine. So, I asked the guy, you would be MUCH happier if you were charged ever single time instead of occasionally? WOW! Insist they charge you every time then. He realised how foolish that sounded. From my experience, when you tell people some bad news, they always want it to be the other way. " Cancelled? Why dont you people even try? My wife said it is clear there! Why dont you just delay the flight intsead of outright cancelling it? "
Heard it all before over and over folks. And you KNOW I'm right. 😀

Therein lies the rub. People understand that weather happens. When you ignore them and don't provide information or even a way to get information then you get a different result.
In other words why lie when the truth would serve you better.
