Employee Rewards For Not Coming To Work

Don't hate the players......Hate the game.....CCY makes the rules.

Good Grief. Piss and moan, whine and complain. Obviously this company can't do anything to please anyone.

I'm sorry, but I think this was a great first step in recognizing the difficulties that the employees in PHL have endured. Imagine you are short 250 employees of your staffing each and every day. You are forced to shift extend and work mandatory overtime, almost daily. The company had to do something to try and motivate employees in PHL. Every Sunday since football season started has been a nightmare. These people deserve this kind of incentive and much much more.

When was the last time CLT was short 250 employees? When was the last time your department was short 30% of their work force?

Stop this pitiful ME ME ME attitude and appreicate that someting nice is being done for another group of employees that have been beaten to a pulp.

By all means.......let the bashing begin!

Who's fault is it that they are short?

Being short 250 bodies does not happen overnight and someone at CCY should be held accountable. They moved the majority of PIT flights to PHL and yet they did not add one body, gee does not take a Harvard MBA to figure out that you need people to work flights, they won't arrive and depart by themselves.

CLT is short bodies plenty of days, not to the extent of PHL, but they are, DCA is short handed too, I have sat on flights for an hour waiting for cargo to be loaded.

Giving away TVs to only BOS, PHL and PVD is an insult to the other stations US flies into, last year the Carolina Panthers were in the Super Bowl, I dont remember any TVs being given away to the employees.

No one is ever held accountable at CCY for the failures of US Airways, did any executive lose their job or get demoted for the X-Mas fiasco?

Nope!

If you haven't noticed US is in the second bankruptcy in less then 18 months, there are thousands of workers that are being laid-off, thousands of others have taken tremendous paycuts, benefits and loss of their pension, but none of that matters as long as US gives away some TVs.

Don't get me wrong, it is a nice gesture, but there are more important things for this company to worry about then this.

I agree, there are executives that should (and must) be held accountable for the situation we find ourselves in. The employee shortages in DCA and PHL are to the extreme. I don't deny that one bit. This whine about CLT being in the Superbowl last year and not getting any TV's doesn't hold water with me. We have to start making ammends somewhere and I think it is a good step to start in PHL. Those employees have been beaten to a pulp. A token reward like a few TV's is probably not going to stop an employee that is hell bent on calling in sick, but it will be a nice bonus to the guy that busts his hump there day in and day out.

Staffing shortages are company wide, but no where is it more evident then in places like PHL and DCA. What would you recommend that the company do to ensure that we have the staffing to run the operation in PHL today.....when the home team is in the SuperBowl? I would lov eto hear some of your ideas!

It is great to be a critic, but unless you are a part of the solutions, you are a part of the problem.

There is nothing they can do in PHL to remedy the situation.

The damage is all ready done, being 250 people short before adding dozens of more flights just shows that the Executive VP of Operations and the VP of Customer Service have no idea or clue on how to run an operation.

You have to treat your employees with respect and dignity and not treat them as the enemy.

You can't turn back the clock and just make it all better. Why is there still no action on hiring in PHL?

A management that knowingly tells all the workers you will be mandatoried due to known staffing problem, is a management that needs to be fired. It seems someone dropped the ball on getting PHL staffed. It is now two months after the PHL fiasco and they are still 250 people short.

Nothing has changed and nothing ever will. An aggressive hiring campaign should have taken place all ready, but once again it has not.

And if management would have been managing the problems in PHL would not have gotten so severe.

And I can be all the critic I want to be, see I don't get paid the big bucks to ensure the operation is staffed and has the equipment it needs, that is Crellin, Paladini and the Station Director of PHL's responsibilty, not mine. All I can do is my job and ensure I do it to the best of my abililty, but that will be outsourced anyhow.

MMW,

I have to agree to some degree with you. However, the senior execs WERE NOT HELD ACCOUNTABLE, AND TOOK NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE PHL FIASCO.

Al Crellin should have been forced to resign, after all, the operation is HIS RESPONSIBILITY! He should have been keenly aware of the shortages in PHL on all counts if he truly had his hand on the pulse of the operation. He wasn't in anyones negoitiations during the last few months so WHAT the hell was he doing?

Not one senior exec was told to leave, natta, zero, ziltch.

The "good old boys club" is alive and well up in CCY.

BTW, look forward to seeing the DOT report coming out in a few weeks that clears the flight attendants completely of any operation mishap during the holiday season, and that is a FACT!

CCY had a form letter that went out to 2500 customers through Corporate Affairs BLAMING the f/a group for the shortages during xmas holiday.

YOU WILL SOON FIND OUT THAT THIS WAS SPIN, AND BS COMING FROM THE BIG WIGS WHO WERE COVERING THEIR EXEC AZZES.

The DOT will clear us.

Yeah that is the rumor that mgt has floated so you will come to work!

When you win, you will find that they are 13" black and white TVs from the early 70s that they picked up at a garage sale. 😀

Cheers

1/Hundreds interested in joining US Airways team

US Airways' recent job fairs in Philadelphia and the
Washington metro area have sparked an impressive amount
of interest from job seekers. More than 230 individuals
attended a fair held yesterday in Arlington, Va., to
find out more about working at Washington's Reagan
National Airport. The company extended offers to 90
future employees, in the areas of Fleet Service,
Customer Service and Customer Assistance. Individuals
in this group may begin training as early as Friday,
Feb. 11.

In Philadelphia, which also has hosted a series of job
fairs, a strong interest in working for US Airways
exists. Of the close to 850 candidates interviewed,
more than 400 have received conditional job offers,
contingent on the successful completion of background
checks, TSA fingerprint checks, drug screenings, and
training. The majority of these offers were in Fleet
Service, followed by Customer Assistance and Customer
Service.

A second job fair is under way today at the Arlington
Employment Center.

I agree with everything that you said above.....and you are right to place blame directly on the heads of the people you did. When I spoke of being a critic, I meant regarding the employee incentive.

You still haven't said what you would have done to ensure you had people in PHL for Superbwol Sunday. (Given you feel that the TV raffle is an injustice to everyone else)

PitBull -

I couldn't agree more....and I have posted on here at least 50 times that I think Uncle Al needs to be held accountable for everything that has happened in PHL. He approves the staffing levels. He knows the shortages. He did nothing to fix the problem. I would buy the first round of drinks the day he is tossed out the door.

I am glad to hear that your employee group will be absolved of any responsibility for the X-mas melt down. Again, the blame should all stop at one person.

Well lets see only 30+ days later and they finally do something about it, gee if they had a job fair and hire of the street, what about the utility people that were promised those job first? Gee was CCY not being honest again?

Like I said, there is nothing you can do to make people come to work, after two years of concessions and threats, people don't care anymore, when the company declared war upon its employees vs the competition any hope ended there.

If the company had treated the PHL employees with respect instead of the threat of mandatory OT all the time, maybe they would have come to work.

Like I said it is a nice gesture, but it slights the rest of the system while thousands are days away from being laid-off.

See....I don't get it.....no matter what happens, you have to put a negative spin on it. HR extends potential job offers to 400 people and your response is, "what about the utility people that were promised those job first?" So what was supposed to happen? I realize that a job fair should have happened a long time ago....that they should have up'd the hourly starting wage a long time ago.....but they are doing it now.

So should we now wait another month to see how many utility employees will take the job, then have a job fair? Or should we hire some of these people and work the utility employees back in the roster?

Yes, this should have all taken place long before the melt down in PHL, but at least they are working to resolve the problem now.

If there is nothing that the company can do to make employees come to work now, then does that mean we should continue not to try? So we just blow off trying to repair morale? Everything has to start somewhere and with some type of gesture. This TV giveaway was damage control in PHL, BOS and PVD. Take it for what it is worth.

It seems U will now reward employees ONLY in PHL, BOS, and PVD if they come to work this weekend! While all the other dedicated employees worked throughout the holidays when they were scheduled, get a "NICE JOB" pat on the back and 2 not- so-free space positive tickets. When one of the PHL employees who may have called in sick, had xmas off, could go home with a big screen TV. Isn't corporate America a great place?

Everyone single employee at U should have every opportunity for their name to be placed in these drawings.
How disgraceful.

Yeah and if the Steelers had been in the Super Bowl memos galore would have gone out to the PIT folks warning not to wear black and gold. Oh well. What do you expect from corporate losers?

So how exactly does this raffle work? What happens when the winner calls in sick tomorrow? And are these TV's treated as income like the space positive tickets are? Were there limitation put on eligibility other than the physical station requirement? Just curious....

What does it matter.....it doesn't concern you? Allow the people in PHL to enjoy something without ripping it to shreds.
