How are the new European services going?
I hear DUB/SNN have a wrap flight for a week
in Nov, as a test for return in march???
No flight are in the system for march, only
for May, in which DUB drops to a 752 which should
be re configured to envoy by then...

BIG Mistake to make DUB a 75E. This FLT is Always Full in The Summer!

Anyone else heard of the wrap PHL-DUB-SNN-PHL for next March, hopr the 75E's get winglets, plus i think some of u.s 757's are going to be etops fitted..

If that's correct - and it looks that way, then US is planning to use the 767 for a longer haul NEW route - maybe WAW, or even ATH - or maybe PHL-GRU (Sao Paulo)!

Actually the 767 has only 10 more total seats than the 757, but more Envoy seats. The 757 has more Economy seats. I don't believe US is planning on reconfiguring (just upgrading) 767 Envoy this winter. The six TA 757s (3 Current and 3 to be Etoped) are rumored to have their Envoy sections upgraded and winglets added this winter. The last I heard the 330s were going to be slightly reconfigured - one less Envoy row and more Economy. Still all that shouldn't change the fact that the 757 is not really much smaller (seat wise) than the 767-200ER, albeit certainly less desireable overall for a 7-8 hour flight.

6?? Did I miss that we are getting 3 more ?

Apparently, we missed more than that. On the earnings conference call, it was said there are 7 ETOPS 757's on the West side and 9 on the East side currently (those numbers may be reversed) with a goal of having 20 ETOPS capable.

I know it surprised me when it was said.....

901-906 and 908-910 if all are not already will be ETOPS. 913-915 (former EAL birds) could be converted. 907 was a recent lease return.

No GRU.

Firstly, we will ignore the fact that there is zero market for Philadelphia-Sao Paulo, because, even if there was, there is no more room for any other US airline to fly additional US-Brazil flights. US and Brazil have a strict air treaty, and US Airways can't join in.

Thanks Eric. I'm assuming that those are HP birds (too lazy to look it up), making it 9 on that side. Looks like I did indeed remember the numbers backwards.

While I haven't kept up with how many of the West 757 have been ETOPS qual'ed, I certainly didn't know of any East except the 3 former ATA planes. That's the part that surprised me.

Yeah 3 U.S 757's will be converted to etops and Envoy for transatlantic routes adding to the 3 we have already..

NO GRU as MAH4546 explained and I doubt ATH either. I believe the current agreement between the US and Greece allows for only one US carrier (DL) - thats why CO cannot fly it from EWR. Besides, ATH is primarily a leisure market which equates to low yields. MAH4546 probably knows more about this.

I would bet on BHX w/ a 757 and ZRH w/ a 767 (now a *A hub), or possibly VIE or WAW as long shots.

Also, the preliminary schedule shows PHL-LIS going daily starting around 5/10/07

"zero market for Philadelphia-Sao Paulo" - not too credible a statement. With the current VARIG situation, the bilateral could possibly be negotiated.

ATH would become available if Open Skies is approved as expected by mid-2007.

I don't know what my comments have to do with PHL-LIS, however the route is not bookable beyond late October, so you must have some insider information. I am aware the summer route has been performing beyond expectations - that has a lot to do with the promotions/support by the Lisboa tourist office and the code share/alliance with TAP - good things. Year round at the expense of warmer clime routes would seem risky - to me anyway.

The upgraded 767 Envoy will have lie flat beds with a 62-63" pitch and new IFEs. All Coach will be re-covered.
