Dell...watch the damn video. All this guy did was hook his finger in a belt loop. Presto. 30 rounds in under 2 seconds. I know that technically that's not "fully auto"...but it's a helluva lot more lethal than saying "that depends on what the definition of is is". If so, you were a RARITY - because when the constitution was being trampled under Bush (who should have been tried for treason), the response was 'if you haven't done anything wrong, you don't have anything to worry about". Obama has also been a long supporter of the Patriot Act, though one would not know that by simply listening to his words and speeches, as he has consistently fed the public anti-spying and, more poignantly during the campaign, anti-Bush rhetoric. However, while Senator Obama was bashing the bill in his speeches and accusing his opponents of being too hawkish on domestic spying, he was voting in support of it. It follows that now, President Obama has signed extensions of the bill at every opportunity. Occasionally though, congress has needed a little bit of encouragement.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada was a fierce advocate of the bill stating, “When the clock strikes midnight tomorrow, we would be giving terrorists the opportunity to plot attacks against our country, undetected.”

I don't give a #### who it was. I opposed it, the right did not. After all...they didn't have anything to hide. Here's a surprise for you...unlike the right, who will fall into lockstep behind their leader (amazing what a tax cut can do), I was pretty pissed that Obama didn't kill the Patriot Act.. Sadly, Romney was not a candidate that I wanted to give my vote to because, to be honest with you, I didn't think further tax cuts were the solution to the nations problems.

Sparrow...I can buy a car that is cabable of going 200 miles per hour, but if I drive it over 70 (in most states) I could get a ticket. We have rules and regulations LIMITING what we can do. I haven't read where anybody has proposed banning ALL guns...just the guns that's sole purpose is to kill people, quickly and efficently. Why does the NRA and conservative America rise up when someone says "does the average American really NEED an assault rifle"?

One thing I still find funny....it's easy to find a video of the biggest defender of teh second amendment (Ted Nugent) holding up a military weapon. But when he had the opportunity to let this oppressive government GIVE him one of those guns - he #### his pants and left it there so he wouldn't have to use it. After the draft got abolished, he gets pretty cozy with those type of guns.

But restrictions and limitations do. Alcohol is sold all over the place. No longer have a huge under ground for shine. No longer have large numbers of people dying from contaminated alcohol. It is safer. So why can we not do the same thing with guns?

I suggest you folks come up with methods to control guns before the extremest on the other side start banning crap left and right.

I agree 1005 with ending the war on drugs. CO and WA have the right idea. Hopefully the Fed gets behind them. Obama already said his DOJ is not going to focus on it.

This 2nd ammendment issue, is like a close cousin to the GOP view on abortion.
They, the REPUGS say...'If you're NOT against abortion, you're FOR it,which of course is a LIE. (Like a transmission with ONLY a ' F ' or ' R '.

The Dems say that 'thier transmission' has 3 positions. An... ' F ' / ' N ' / ' R '.

REad close and slow...if Obama used executive orders to ban assault weapons....I mean semiautomatic weapons that can be made automatic by slipping a finger in a belt loop, then HELL YES I would support that.

Here's the thing, in spite of what some people may think he does not have the power to do so. If it were the case then what would be the point of having a house and senate? All he would have to do is sign an executive order circumventing anything they did.
