Express Wholly Owned Pilot Shortage

I'd rather have my wife and daughters aboard the 65 year old's plane any day.

The thought of them aboard an RJ with a minimally experienced crew gives me chills.

Hard to believe the insurance companies will underwrite such low time pilots in transport jets. Oh I forgot. It's cheaper to pay a big insurance premium than a decent wage while Johnny/Jennifer JetPilot go through their first bout of "Shiny Jet Syndrome."

Well i wonder how many pilots at mainline were hired with low time....I mean less than 2500 hrs?
Three years ago you had to have 2500 just to get a job at a regional. Yes the minimums have changed to commercial multi now but i really doubt that you will have your family flying on any PSA or Piedmont airplane with a Captain with less than 5000hrs. If upgrade is 4 years, that would be around 3200hrs alone plus previous flying.
I would be more concerned with my family flying on an airplane with pilots that lost their pensions and seniority. Fear most the ones with the least to lose.
If you catch my drift!
