Is that the best defense you have for keeping a BANKRUPTCY contract voluntarily for the past 10 years and how many more?
So what? I want to keep BK wages for the foreseeable future.
So what? I could care less about sick time, DH, lead pay, aft pay, rigs.
So what? I could care less how long I stay on a crap contract. At least I'll know that contract very well
Just so we are clear - the contract(s) we have now is (are)deplorable. So why would you want another contract that essentially worse then this one being sold as "industry standard"? I am not naive to know it would be a risk to reject this contract. But when is enough, enough? Without the employer there is no need for a union. But sometimes you have to stand up and take a stand.
Ambigous protections pending PBS implementation? 18 month transition?
$4.51 more an hour in return for cleaning every leg under 1000 nm?
10 hour hard time days?
No longer paired with pilots - thought that was off the table?
If it were just one or two of these items - then no problem. But It's not. It's an assault on anyone with less than 30 years seniority. 30 years plus then your doing alright on this TA because non of the concessions will affect you. That seems fair.
Then you add the motives of Doug Parker, Jerey Glass - no thank you.
I like everyone else on the East has been screwed over the past ten years - but thankfully we are still employed. I am thankful for that fact - but getting really tired of the "I am just lucky to have a job" mentality. Is there a twelve step program for Stockholm syndrome?
If we do eventually merge with AMR that would be great - if not then what? We just gave up all our protection for another non merger? At least AMR employees aren't the wimps we are - BK or not. They also not as likely to rollover for management as eagerly as this group always seems to do.
I don't have the 30-35 years of service needed to benefit from this TA. I guess that makes me biased.
Hey - I don't like the current contract but would rather work under it until they come up with something realistic. A contract that benefits the entire spectrum of seniority instead of only the top 15%.
What does someone with 30 years give up or gain under this TA? Compared to someone with 20 years? 15 years? Or someone that only wants to fly the minimum every month? The reserves?
For me, there is way too much ambiguity in the contract language, too many work rule concessions for those of us with 30 years or less. CSD program and AFT lead pay and a $4.51 an hour raise? Really? More like $4.51@ flight hour to clean planes every leg under 1000 miles?. No thanks.
Not everyone has to (or will) agree with my assessment - but they do need to start taking an active role in their career (now more than ever) and educate themselves on this contract (and pitfalls) before voting. Maybe even show up for a roadshow and actually ask a question and hear an answer straight from the mouth of the JNC then VOTE.
