700UW is correct. One A319 per month will be returned to GECAS in February through August and three A319s will be returned in September. These aircraft are scheduled to be flown by a European Operator.

Fifteen B737s will be returned to GECAS in 2006 and 2007 and will be converted to freighter status.

I understand the company’s business plan anticipates adding other Airbus aircraft to the mainline as early as 2006.

Best regards,

So now the "Plan" is to be a low-fare, East-Coast based, regional airline with a lot of Regional Jets? Shouldn't somebody ask Independence Air how that is working out for them?

yes, I read USaviation for interesting discussions and news. If I want to read comments like this and others in this thread I can go to any of a billion bulletin boards created for the 13 years old mentality such as the board I saw my friend's 12 year old daughter reading about Adam Brody, who's apparently some star in some WB TV show. Or perhaps the Dawson Creek bulletin boards?

It would be great if US Airways could take advantage of all the used aircraft like 757's and 767's parked in the desert for the time being and start expanding now. Then when and if they are healthy four years from now replace them with new aircraft.

Problem is regional airlines do not fly 75's or 76's!!!!! 😛 We are cutting the larger A/C out of the fleet , not adding them.

Yes, this was the plan before all the pay cuts were implemented. It only makes sense to build up express until mainline's cost could become competitive. Now that this looks close to becoming a reality, why not get a jump start on your money making markets like the Caribbean, transatlantic or start new service to South America as soon as possible? I am not saying they should do this like tomorrow, but once they emerge instead of waiting four years or more for new aircraft to become available? That's a long time in this industry to be waiting around to try to expand. I am sure there are some sweet deals out there on the used market to take advantage of.

The larger express gets with RJ's and the mainline getting smaller the CASM gets higher due to the higher operating costs of the RJ's.. So how do you figure the cost is going to go down?

Mainline needs to get larger so the costs can be spread out..
