I've seen comments like this before, and, to be honest, I resent this line of thinking. Granted, I make quite a bit more now than $7/hour. But, when I was in high school and college, I worked for minimum wage (at the time I believe it was $4.25/hour) and still cared about my appearance. It's not a function of wage; it's a function of personal pride.

It is also a direct reflection of the employer. If the company projects the worth of the employed as nil or negative, the employee will reflect that. If you treat them like kings, most will dress the part.
