Simpson/Bowles = Adults
It is a good first step. I would argue that it doesn't go far enough fast enough.
Simpson/Bowles = Adults
Simpson/Bowles = Adults
Neither party has the will or votes to pass what they proposed. Obama knows that. So do Boehner, McConnell, and Reid. Do you hear any present member of congress saying how much they want Bowles/Simpson to be put up for vote in it's present form?Yeah and the 'adult' in the White House ignored their findings. Bowles did an exemplary job only to be dissed by the man/child. Bowles was hurt by Rocky Bama.......

The commission’s 18 members were evenly divided, 9-9, between liberal Democrats and conservative Republicans. Yet, remarkably, consider this fact, contrary to the CW — get ready to be shocked: The Simpson-Bowles commission’s recommendations were supported by an overwhelming majority of the commissioners. Indeed, the margin was over 60 percent — enough to kill a Senate filibuster.
Supporting the recommendations of a combination of tax hikes and spending cuts were such courageous senators as conservative Republicans Mike Crapo (Idaho) and Tom Coburn (Okla.) and liberal Democrats Dick Durbin (Ill.) and Kent Conrad (N.D.).
If this was a "duh", then why didn't Republican budget hero Paul Ryan introduce it as it was, rather than his own plan???
Duh......because they're different.....Duh.........
Is there a Democrat budget hero.........??
WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama will vacation with his family in Martha's Vineyard, an island off the coast of the eastern state of Massachusetts, at the end of this month as he has done in years past, the White House said Wednesday, despite the weak economy and negotiations on the U.S. debt problem.
Press secretary Jay Carney defended Obama's plans to take a break even as he has pledged urgent action on those issues.
"I don't think Americans out there would begrudge that notion that the president would spend some time with his family," Carney said.
Carney added that there's really no such thing as a presidential vacation since Obama will travel with his aides, receive regular briefings on national security and the economy and be able to return to Washington if necessary.
"The presidency travels with you. He will be in constant communication," Carney said at the White House briefing.
Last August, the president, Michelle Obama and their two daughters spent 10 days at a rented farm on the wealthy island retreat.
I could never figure this out. People moaned when Bush went on "vacation " also. Do you really believe the POTUS just leaves the WH and goes on vacation like the rest of us? It's not like a POTUS is out in a boat or a cabin out of touch with the rest of civilization. The POTUS is never off duty. They have advisers, secure communication, daily briefings and all the other trappings of being the leader of a world power. Whether Obama is leading from a house in Martha's Vineyard or Bush is leading from his ranch in TX, makes no difference.
Are you through with the drama?
