Consider the possiblity of no contract at all. I promise you DO NOT want to go there.
Coach,
IAM kool aid?
you don't need to pay a union for a 'union busting contract' that pays some wages of around $17.50 in the year 2013. You did better when you were IAM-union free when you made $17.88 in 1993.
BTW, your IAM pension is the worst employer contributing plan in the industry and was so good that it was a $47 million concession to your previous 401k. Just putting in 3%-5% restricted to 40 hrs is worse than non-union workers in this industry. Dude, Non-union workers at US AIRWAYS enjoy better employer contributions in their retirement plans. Even the CWA has an employer contribution rate that is basically double of the dreadful IAM Fleet service rate.
The IAM says they believe in seniority and are right there with you yet they were the only union to agree to allow all workers it represents in FS to go to 'ground zero' in seniority in lay off situations.
Job security, the IAM contracted out 80% of the cities, probably 90% if I got technical.
At any rate, the IAM isn't the answer, anything but the answer.
Just pointing to the scoreboard that's all.
regards,
