Gas Prices -- the Cause

I take my cues from Jesus Christ and He tells me that I've got nothing to worry about as long as I put my life in His hands.

Wait until God's chosen hit Iran and oil goes out the door Dude.

I will be praying for all of you. Continue making your hateful, disparaging remarks. They only increase my love for each and every one of you.

Please............I don't see any remarks as to what you infer.

If you really do not need oil for subsistence....go naked to the store....run your SUV on the steel wheels that your tires attach to,don't use your cell phone to call for road assistance, and don't take any aspirin for your headache.

You remind me of another person with what one would say was a rather 'cavalier' attitude toward life.....

You mean like Bill Clinton?

I know what it's like to be without. I choose not to be. We all make choices in life.

I will pray for you as well.

For your information, Jesus Christ rides shotgun with me any time I'm behind the wheel. He's the best passenger a person can have. He's full of love and compassion. This might come as a shock, but I've never had Him complain once about the fuel economy. He watches over my family and fills our hearts with joy and love. I encourage everyone to know Him.

Excellent idea for a bumpersticker: "Jesus Rides in a Mercedes". It will look great next to the Ichthys.

He has come a long way since His donkey.

I am praying for you too.

IM700 or what ever he/she called him self. I think he/she is back.

Now, back on thread . .

It appears Americans are starting to sacrifice. Americans saved over 144,000,000 barrels of oil in the first 6 months of 2008.

Saw something on the news that said since Jun of 07 the US has driven 12 BILLION few miles than th year before. If I remember correctly, CA has the biggest reduction at over 8%. I guess there is at least some good coming out of the higher prices.

I believe there have been less automobile related deaths as well.

Perhaps driving, just like air travel, will become a luxury that only the privileged will be able to utilize. In California, I think the biggest problem now is people without insurance. It doesn't occur to any of these people to get it and they still drive all over, crashing into people. I don't think the fuel really is hurting the average Californian because there's just no choice in the matter...we WILL drive. I think that we'd stop buying food before any of us curbed our fuel usage. Places to go, people to see.

I kinda liked the one "Jesus is a Republican"

But then I quit partying with the GOP.

Bobbie...sweet Dude.....I pray for your soul too.

I don't think Jesus was a Republican. I'm not. Making the rich richer while making the poor poorer is not a priority of mine, nor do I believe it to be Jesus'. The Republican party gives breaks to the people who need them least and tears down opportunities for the poor left and right.

The things that the Republican party has done in the last 30 years are so contrary to Jesus' teachings that I find it actually humorous that the so-called "Religious Right" continues to support them. I think it's more about racism and paranoia than anything else. Wouldn't want those pesky poor people having a chance to rise up. I have spent countless hours working with the poor through my favorite non-profits and I see the product of Republican thinking left and right. It's more expensive to hang them out to dry than it is to offer them merit-based opportunities for advancement. We spend billions on emergency room visits for poor people and their children and, yet, we won't pay for real health coverage. It's imperative that they keep clogging emergency rooms and not getting any sort of preventative health measures. The Republican method is a joke and it doesn't add up on any level unless you make over 6 figures. I receive tax benefits I have absolutely no use for. I would rather the money go into someone else's pocket. I'm forced to take those funds and donate them for, you guessed it, more tax breaks.

You may call me Ma'am, Bobbie, Roberta, or any combination thereof, but please don't call me "Dude." I am, indeed, a real human being and I'm a woman. Perhaps Dudette would be more to your liking.

Really? Because you proudly burn that gasoline so freely...you brag about it - apart of that demand drives up the price of gasoline for the person who needs to get to and from work. It's certainly not a "Luxury" for them...it is necessary for them to provide a roof over their heads, put food on their table, and be a part of the economy. Proudly burning up a nonrenewable resource and saying "maybe driving will only be for the rich" is taking money out of their pocket...which means that many won't eat as well. You apparently are blessed with affluence enough to afford a Mercedes SUV and another vehicle that gets even worse mileage. You work close to your spouse, but choose to drive TWO vehicles...burning even more gas. That sounds like you are partly responsible for making the poor poorer. WWJD?
