Gas Prices -- the Cause

I'm PERPLEXED !

The topic is GAS PRICES,......so....um.......What does the prophet jesus, and the disputed (part of the) "Book"...............have to do with .."GAS PRICES" ?????????????????????

All I know, is that the "LEMMINGS" around me here in NH, are "REJOICING" that "petrol" has dropped to $3.69 a gallon.

"SO.........WHAT" ????

Where is the OUTRAGE, that the FIRST figure is a......"3................. ?????

UN-BELIEVABLE !!

ABSOLUTELY UN-BELIEVABLE !!!

No. I think the government needs to developer public transportation so that those with out insurance will not have an excuse.

Seatacus,

What I meant is that the cost of insurance can be so high that it would seem like a luxury item too some. So they drive with out insurance because that is the only way to get to work.

Dude....Chico ain't waiting for no stinking bus to go to the bar....he'll drive down....he don't care about no stinking MADD.

One consumer cannot have any effect on the market price of gasoline no matter how much you burn. The market is far too large.
JS...up until THIS YEAR the number one selling vehicle in the US was a pickup truck. The vehicle of choice for MOST Americans was an SUV. Indeed, the actions of one person cannot effect the price of gasoline. The actions of many certainly do. Again I ask, how come, when gas prices drop, it's a direct result of Americans cutting back on their driving, but when gas prices rise, it is due to everything BUT Americans demand for gasoline?

I also think that Bobbie us using Jesus to justify a mindset that is far from Christian.

The primary reason for the drop in gasoline prices is the drop in crude oil, only a small part of which can be attributed to this year's preferred size of vehicle for Americans.

I think you missed his point.

It is the drop in the use of the preferred size of vehicles of Americans that is/will be a big part of reason for the drop in gasoline prices.

I've seen reduced driving in the past making inventories high thus making prices lower at the pump...but so far the past year or so this doesn't seem to do anything at all...why?

Americans are driving the lowest I've seen in quite some time as you see fewer cars on the road for the most part. They are changing their driving habits. This should make record inventories and lower prices...the recent price drop is not attributable to high inventories.

To me insurance is not a luxury I give myself. I see it as an obligation to others for the priviledge of driving. For the record, I have given up many luxuries to be able to purchase insurance. It's the responsible thing to do. I don't think that being poor should absolve anyone of their responsibility.

I guess that means that you really don't need insurance either.

It's all in his hands.

Indeed, it all is in His hands. However, Jesus has provided me with the means to afford insurance in order to comply with my state's laws. Through His blessings, I'm able to afford insurance and it is on His advice that I purchase it.

I agree with you for the most part. I guess the thing I am looking at is this. If am low income and I am at the point where I have to decide whether to buy food or car insurance, whidh do you think I will buy?

I agree that it is an obligation and that is why I buy it as well but there are those (especially with the current economy) who are having to make tough decisions.

How would you feel if a poor person without insurance got into an accident with another poor person without insurance? Who would cover damages?

How about a universal car insurance program paid for by the gov't?

Or an emergency insurance adjuster for low income families?

Absolutely. Everything is in His hands! Through Him, all things are possible.

Bobbie,

I hope you will pardon me, but I thought the topic was about gas prices ?

I fail to see what jesus has to do with gas prices.

What I, as a NY city Non christian, encounter on a regular basis(of late) is, a bunch of Lemmings "ohhing and ahhing" about the fact that prices have dropped about $.40 recently.

What I should be hearing FIRST, are complaints that the FIRST digit is a "3" !

I'm beginning to believe that some people like being Raped(as it pertains to the Big Oil companies)

Sad, very Sad !
