Well I think I've read enough of this politically correct BS.
The fact is what business does USAIR have getting involved in an incident that happened off their property between two unions?
The fact that the TWU ran to the company demanding termination speaks volumes about them, they are a company union. Its BS.
How many times have TWU officials gotten drunk on the members tab and punched each other out? Were they all fired? This is between two unions and the legal system. If they are not in jail and not convicted of a felony then they should be at work.
The fact is when I informed my coworkers about what happened not one said "Oh thats wrong, those guys should be fired". Most said it was good to see they have a little fight in them. In contrast to Littles remarks about how this incident reminds him of things that happened 50 years ago, and that we dont need to return to that, everyone I know said the opposite, that we do need to return to what workers did 50 years ago. 50 years ago workers were making gains, not giving away everything like we are. So called leaders like Jim Little with their management history, phony degrees and "pro company the workers are lucky to have a job mentality" are destroying the labor movement. In 2001 Jim Little actually told the members of Local 562 "You never want to reject a TA, because the company will never make a better offer". The man is a scab, now he is demanding that the company terminate several employees.
The injuries have been exaggerated, the news articles all said they were treated and released the same day. So the TWU is making a big deal about a little scuffle, because thats all they have.
The fact is I would rather have fighters than company friendly c#*ts like Little and the TWU looking out for me.
The boys in PHL and other stations should stand behind those involved, whether they agree with what they did or not, its none of the companys business and they should stay out of it. When you let the company step outside of the eight hours they are paying you you are setting a dangerous precident. What next? You didnt show up for church last Sunday-You're fired!!!!
