And who were the slave owners? Why lo and behold your forefathers. The sins of the father are passed to the son.

Negative. The majority of Americans during slavery did not own slaves and today, The majority of americans have ancestors who immigrated from elsewhere in the past 100 years.

Chances are your ancestors couldnt afford slaves or werent even here if they could

Who is getting rights because of the past? Who's rights are being deprived by allowing A people to marry? What multiculturalism?

You said you do not believe in the rights so why fight. My argue t is that rights are rights. They apply to all of us. The fact that you would stand by while others have rights denied to them leaves you little room to coming about rights deprived to you for much the same reason.

It's the past that gives people rights. Gay marriage didn't just appear out of the blue, they are riding on the minority status coattail. You won't know who's rights will be deprived until it happens. Affirmative Action is the best example. If you don't know about multiculturalism...thus the rainbow 😛 ...then you don't see what is actually happening.

I said I don't believe in rights I don't believe in, such as NAMBLA, yes they are using the RIGHTS card. Rihjts apply to all of us but what our rights are is in the eye of the beholder.

Right. Jefferson and Washington didn't have slaves. They had concubines, housekeepers, butlers and laborerers, who happen to be black!

BTW, there was no slavery the past 100 years and my ancestors more than likely owned indentured servants that were white Europeans. 😛

The past has nothing to do with rights other than the fact that the COTUS outlines certain rights afforded to all people in the US. Affirmative action is nothing like equal marriage rights. Affirmative action is essentially an exemption that was designed to try and correct prejudice from the past. Equal marriage just acknowledges rights that have always existed but were deprived because of past prejudices. Allowing people to marry affects no one where as selecting person 'A' over person 'B' for a position based on AA does affect a person.

I agree 100% that NAMBLA, KKK and other such organizations are using the rights card as well they should be. The COTUS affords equal rights to everyone, not just the ones you agree with. That is one of the costs of freedom in a democratic republic.

I think the part you are missing is that the while the COTUS does out line certain rights, it leaves the rest up to the people to decide. The part you are missing is that what those rights are is not as important as the fact that the rights must apply to everyone equally. You cannot pick and choose who gets what rights. Since the law allows people to get married, it must apply to all people equally. SO while I agree that rights are in the eye of the beholder, they cannot pick and choose who gets those rights. That is why I believe the SCOTUS will rule in favor of equal marriage for all.

And we are law talking about equal marriage. Now read my post.

Secondly, AA is an exception to a rule not a right. Two different things.

So with that said, where does 'civil rights' enter the same equation?

A little late on the news but Gov. Lincoln Chafee signed the bill allowing equal marriage in Rhode Island. The first marriages will be allowed effective Aug 1 barring any last min legal attempt to stop them. That makes 10 states who allow equal marriage.

Also in the news, the BSA has voted to allow openly homosexual to be members of the BSA. Gay leaders are still prohibited but I bet that will change soon as well.

A good month for equality and the COTUS.

Who cares?

First they came for the communist,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist.
Then they came for the Socialists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionist,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew.
Then they came for the Catholics,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Catholic.
Then they came for me,
and there was no one left to speak for me

And of course, new merit badges for anal intercourse. I can only imagine your outrage when you find out that the Boy Scouts of America only approved same-sex hanky-panky.

Did you kiss the news about the sexuall abuse covered up by the BSA for decades?
