Gay Marriage

Too bad you didn't read the article you post as "proof" of something.

Of what, I'm not sure, but I am pretty sure it is not what you intended.

Specifically the last Five paragraphs.

Beginning just before "performing marriages is not her duty as a judge..."

In Oregon, is it a "duty" of judges to perform marriages?

They obviously "may"

Are the required to?

The KY Clerk's job includes the Duty of issuing marriage licenses.

Judges' primarey responsibility is hearing cases, not marriages.

Being a Judge in this country is generally a really cool job, precisely because of their relative autonomy and independence.

This Kim Davis "thing" has really got my knickers in a twist. If the primary reason for the founding notion of this nation was and is maximum individual Liberty. What basis do you use to justify your actions? Each of us has the Creator given right to live as we choose, free from government interference.
As to homosexuality. I am most likely as conservative a Christian as Ms Davis. Personally, I think gay marriage is wrong an affront to... my faith. As a result of that belief I don't have sex or romantic relationships with other men. I would also gently remind Ms Davis and her supporters that Adultery made the biblical Top Ten, while homosexuality was someplace down the list. Thus, Jesus' admonition to "Judge not lest ye be judged" or "Let he among you who is without sin cast the first stone"

I have been forever up to my eyeballs with so called fundamentalists who wrap the bible in an American flag screaming God, Country & Ron Reagan. It was bullshit then. It's still bullshit..Leave my faith alone and I'll extend you the same courtesy.

(Give me that) old-time religion:

Gay-Hating Westboro Church Protests Ky. Clerk Who Denied Same-Sex Marriages

Referring to Jeremiah 3:20 the King James version of which reads, "Surely as a wife treacherously departeth from her husband, so have ye dealt treacherously with me, O house of Israel, saith the LORD" WBC undertook a P.R. campaign over the weekend, attacking the thrice-divorced (and legally remarried) Kim Davis in a string of Tweets and YouTube videos as an "oath breaker" and a "lawbreaker" meaning, of course, God's law.

"Get this straight: you can NOT repent of a sin you actively live. Kim must leave that man who's not her husband," the organization said on Twitter.

Please, do not counter with the "No True Scotsman" fallacy!

Dont you ever get tired of looking like a fool?

Keep that in mind. She converted to Christianity about four years ago.
So what was Kim Davis back then? Was she a Zoroastrian? Was she a Rastafarian? Was she a Rosicrucian?

Kim Davis was a f*cking Baptist.

Maybe I'm confused, it's possible I missed a memo, and Mollie Hemingway may know something I don't. But I was under the impression that Baptists are Christians.

Kim Davis couldn't be a Baptist without being a professed believer.

Buzzfeed posted all four of Kim Davis's marriage licenses and here's a funny detail: her first three marriages—the ones that she entered into before she was a Christian (according to The Federalist)—all took place in Baptist churches and were all officiated by Baptist ministers. Let's quickly rattle off their names: Rev. Owen Cox, Rev. H.G. Pratt, Rev. Gary Clark. Only Davis's fourth marriage—the one Davis entered into after she become a Christian—was officiated by a judge (Jim Nickell), not a minister.

Kim Davis isn't a Baptist anymore—she converted to Apostolic Christianity four years ago—but all three of her divorces, all of her adulterous acts, and all four of her marriages took place after she was a Christian.

Unless Baptists aren't Christians. If that's what Hemmingway and the rest of the gang at The Federalist are arguing... I'm thinking the leaders of Baptist churches might have something to say about that.

I think her previous religious affiliations and previous relationships are irrelevant to the conversation. Yes she is a hypocrite, no law against it.

I think the only issue is her doing the job she was elected to do. She got elected in Nov of 2014 and assumed office in Jan of 2015. Everyone knew that the SCOTUS was going to legalize same sex marriage. She accepted the job now she has to do it or resign. It's a really simple issue.

How about newt cheating on his wife?

And how about Josh Duggar?

Last time I checked they are both republicans.
