What's new

George Zimmerman/Trayvon Martin

I've been listening to the coverage in the background at work -- Fox is streaming the courtroom feed live. While I didn't watch the State present, I have to say they've done a really poor job cross-examining the defense witnesses.

Despite the ruling in their favor to present the toxicology, the defense chose not to bring it up

The judge is getting testy, and I'm not sure if its because the trial was forced on her by politicians, she knows it will wind up in an acquittal, or because the state prosecutors have done such a poor job in front of the jury... Maybe a combination of all three?

Closing arguments start tomorrow. I am guessing it will be an acquittal or at worst, manslaughter, as FL law allows jurors to consider lesser charges.

Riots? I'm more worried about what little gems will be document dumped by the White House while everyone else is distracted by the likes of Al Sharpton.

Watch the other hand my friend......

We knew that Obama pumped up the racial angle when he commented that if he had a son, he would look like Trayvon. I wonder which Trayvon that was, the one the jury heard about who just liked to play video games with his siblings? Or the Trayvon of the cell phone, bragging not long before this incident about his fighting prowess and how he knew how to sucker punch people in the nose? Too bad the jury never got a chance to hear it!

We also knew that Eric Holder had the DOJ investigate the case, and that the FBI found no evidence that Zimmerman was racist or motivated by racism. The only racist inclination claim from Trayvon, identifying Zimmerman as a "creepy ass cracker".

What we didn’t know until yesterday was that the DOJ supported some of the anti-Zimmerman rallies, as disclosed by Judicial Watch.

The prosecution threw everything against the wall, including conflicting and inconsistent theories that Trayvon was on the bottom of the fight screaming and alternatively that Trayvon was on top pulling back. Though legally irrelevant. the prosecution created obsessive distractions such as whether Zimmerman “followed” Martin.

What a strange spectacle to watch the prosecution attack its own police witnesses who had the temerity to believe Zimmerman’s story and found it consistent and credible. The law enforcement world has been turned on its head in this prosecution, because it had to be turned on its head to justify the prosecution.

Just like everything else the Obama administration touches.

This morning, Judge Nelson ruled that in addition to Second Degree Murder, she will instruct the jury on the lesser included offense of Manslaughter, as required by Florida case law.

The prosecution is asking the Judge to drop the Aggravated Assault charge and to instruct the jury on Third Degree Murder, which is murder in the course of committing a felony. The felony the State wanted as the predicate was Aggravated Child Abuse (Jury Instruction) because Trayvon was 17 at the time of the shooting.

Judge Nelson will not allow the Third Degree Murder charge in jury instructions. CYA move.

Closing arguments have started, and the lead prosecutor sounds like even more of a jackass than he's been over the past week. Didn't win on the child abuse stretch of the imagination, so now he's parading Zimmerman as a racist who started up a neighborhood watch to profile black teenagers as criminals....

Reminds me of the preacher from the First Baptist Church of Euless.... Claude something or another... would get all wound up at the pulpit, fake crying, etc...

Makes for great TV, but shouting louder doesn't make you more convincing when you haven't proven your case.

I lived in a community which was gated and had private security growning up. I remember hanging out with friends from high school in the park. The guard walked up, reminded us the 11 PM curfew and told us to go home. None of us beat up the guard, rather we complied and went home. If I would have confronted the guard, not only would I be answering to him but my parents as well. Whatever happened to respect for authority?

Usually a right wing attribute.

BDLR would be a perfect addition to Obama's DOJ . . .

The security guard was black and we were just a bunch of long-haired dudes eating Skittles and talking about girls. We were profiled, I know it!
