Official white person spokesman, Chris Matthews, apologizes 'for all white people'


"I'll just tell you one thing," Matthews said. "And I'm speaking now for all white people, but especially those who have tried to change for the last 50 or 60 years - and a lot have really tried to change. I'm sorry for this stuff. That's all I'm sayin'."
Speaking as a white guy, I feel much better knowing that the official white person spokesman has extended this olive branch. I'm not sure who hired Matthews to speak for all of us, but I'm glad they did. However much we're paying him, it's not enough.
He deserves a raise, a bonus, or an endowment. Mere dollars may never be enough to express our gratitude, but we have to try. We have to do something for this great man.

“You know, when Trayvon Martin was first shot, I said that this could have been my son,” Obama said somberly during a surprise appearance in the White House briefing room. “Another way of saying that is Trayvon Martin could have been me 35 years ago.”

In searingly personal terms, Obama described his experience with race-based prejudice. “There are very few African-American men in this country who haven’t had the experience of being followed when they were shopping in a department store—that includes me,” he said.

“There are very few African-American men who haven’t had the experience of walking across the street and hearing the locks click on the doors of cars. That happens to me—at least before I was a senator,” he said. “There are very few African-Americans who haven’t had the experience of getting on an elevator and a woman clutching her purse nervously and holding her breath until she had a chance to get off. That happens often.”

There was one startling conclusion which, taken at face value, seemed to give the president what he was looking for. As Graham Noble of Guardian Express noted, “If one were to exclude figures for Illinois, California, New Jersey and Washington, DC, the homicide rate in the United States would be in line with any other country.” These areas, of course, are noted for the most restrictive gun laws in the country, thus negating any opportunity for the president to celebrate the report’s findings.
