What's new

George Zimmerman/Trayvon Martin

I guess better is a relative term. More like spineless wankers who just wanted to shut me up rather than deal with the issues. Worked out for the better. My income is up over 30% from 5 years ago and I did not even need a union to do it. Do think I am embarrassed I was fired from American Airlines? I wanted my job back so I changed my alias. Never made any secret about it. I even still fly AA when their costs are competitive. I even just opened a Platinum Advantage card for additional miles. Planning on going to France and Germany for my wifes 50th birth day. Life is quite good after AA and out of the airline business. No need to deal with all the union/management BS. No OSO, no holiday's to worry about.

I miss the non-reving but from what I have heard that is even more difficult now due to capacity reductions and loads.

Now you are being ridiculous.
I grew up with thugs, almost a thug myself.
Thugs can come in any color, shape or form - tattooed or not. But I can always spot a thug by his walk, talk and demeanor.

Looking back on those "almost thuggish" days, if you were walking thru a neighborhood, would that background have made it okay for someone to interrupt your walk and kill you? What part of Trayvon Martin did you personally see that allowed you to deem him a thug? My DAUGHTER went thru a phase of flashing gang signs and acting like what they termed a "wigger" - a white guy trying to be ghetto. Martin may well have become the next Biggie Smalls or Tupac Shakur, but all he was doing that night was walking in the rain. And I'm sorry, but I don't think that action deserved the death penalty.

I wouldn't know as I have never been FIRED.
If I ever would have been FIRED, I would not blame everyone else for my short comings.

But that takes integrity.... DOH!

Typical liberal BS... NOT MY FAULT...

Did I "EVER" state that lil Trayvon was a thug?
Nope.
So what's your point?
Maybe U, mstree and dadawg better compare notes.

Official white person spokesman, Chris Matthews, apologizes 'for all white people'

"I'll just tell you one thing," Matthews said. "And I'm speaking now for all white people, but especially those who have tried to change for the last 50 or 60 years - and a lot have really tried to change. I'm sorry for this stuff. That's all I'm sayin'."
Speaking as a white guy, I feel much better knowing that the official white person spokesman has extended this olive branch. I'm not sure who hired Matthews to speak for all of us, but I'm glad they did. However much we're paying him, it's not enough.
He deserves a raise, a bonus, or an endowment. Mere dollars may never be enough to express our gratitude, but we have to try. We have to do something for this great man.
Thank you, Chris Matthews, for healing a nation.

Starting a petition here, that will require Chris "Tingley-Legs" Matthews to denounce himself as "MY" representative of the white race, as his views are normally polar opposite of mine and I've yet to experience "Tingley-Leg" syndrome !

My bad I guess...you seem well versed on how to spot a thug, I posted on another board how so many pro Zimmerman folks were practically dancing on Martin's grave. He was a thug, he smoked marijuana (posted by people who smoked marijuana at a time in their life), he was suspended from school. Why....Martin was such a thug his mom threw him out of the house. In the white community, we call that "tough love". For blacks it's "thugishness".

Most of the white community was outraged when the OJ verdict was handed down, but I can't recall a single black person...not even Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton, going on about how Nicole was a slut who slept around. Not even the gansta rap loving thugs.

I have seen people bring this up here before and I am certain that this issue does not belong here.

Why anyone would find joy, or revel in someone being fired is lost on me (not saying that xUT is doing that here).

There are usually two sides to any labor dispute...unless you are in a right to work state, then it makes no difference.

I have no idea why or how his employment was terminated, but I am happy to see someone land on their feet after such an event.

We all have life experiences that are different.
When I was young, I beat the crap out of a guy that was twice my size. Got a lot of street cred.

It's what young stupid kids do.

IMHO, Lil Martin was a 6'3" kid and a wannabe, looking for street cred.
Tragic is the word.
Unfortunately, it happens every day regardless of color.

The whole OJ scam is another can of worms that deserves it's own thread.

Being how much of a prick mstree is, I would think his/her/it firing is more than likely justifiable.
Don't like it?
Bite me!

What is the per capita break down. CA is one of he largest states in the union. saying they had more deaths is useless with out a per capita break down.
The point, which you obviously missed was, "Stricter gun laws" do little to curb their use in crimes !

And street cred was beating the crap out of someone. I think you might be right...he was looking for some "street cred" by beating the crap out a guy..NOT killing him. That being the case, Zimmerman's life was not in danger, just his ego of getting the crap kicked out of him by young, stupid kid. And IMHO, to claim that Zimmerman feared for his life and made that a justification for the use of deadly force is laughable were it not so tragic.

But you know something? We ALL were "young, stupid kids" during our teenage years. Zimmerman apparently never outgrew that phase. If he had, he would have waited by the mailboxes like he told the 911 operator at the 3:39 second mark of the 911 tape....only to change his mind 7 seconds later. If Martin were coming after him, I'd think he might have said "Good lord, he's coming after me". Nope...at 3:46 Zimmerman told the 911 operator to "have them call me and I'll tell them where I'm at". In retrospect, that was a pretty "old stupid" thing to do.

I did not watch any of he trial. Was there a witness who saw the confrontation take place?
Jonathan Good, State witness, Florida v. Zimmerman

O'Mara = Zimmerman's defense lawyer
BDLR = State Prosecutor Bernie De La Rionda

O’Mara: Just to clarify what was actually talked about with Chris Serino, Investigator Serino, during this, we’re going to call it for the moment the Ground-and-Pound conversation. We have a rule called completeness, so what I want to do is put it in context for you, ask you if this is what you said to Chris Serino. OK?
“Yeah I pretty much heard somebody yelling outside. I wasn’t sure if it was, you know, a fight or something going wrong. So I opened my blinds and I see kind of like a person out there. I didn’t know if it was a dog attack or something. So I open my door. It was a black man with a black hoodie on top of the other, either a white guy or now I found out I think it was a Hispanic guy with a red sweatshirt on the ground yelling out help! And I tried to tell them, get out of here, you know, stop or whatever, and then one guy on top in the black hoodie was pretty much just throwing down blows on the guy kind of MMA-style.”
Is that the context in which that happened?
Good: Yes.
O’Mara: And then Investigator Serino said, a word that I have, and the transcripts may differ, ground, couldn’t figure it, maybe he said Ground-and-Pound, and then you said:
“Yeah, like a Ground-and-Pound on the concrete at this point, so at this point I told him I’m calling 911.”
BDLR: Objection. Improper bolstering.
O’Mara: I’m at the end of it. Is that–
Judge: There’s an objection and the objection is . . .
BDLR: Hearsay and improper bolstering
O’Mara: I would suggest that rule 108, which is the rule of completeness, suggests that because they brought in part of it . . . and iI’m speaking, I apologize.
Judge: The objection as to hearsay is overruled. Bolstering is not the right objection either, so that’s OK.
BDLR: Beyond the scope of cross-examination to that point
Judge: I overrule on that objection, also, so go ahead.
O’Mara: That’s what you said.
Good: The whole thing, yes
O’Mara: And that was the context in which the words Ground-and-Pound came out.
Good: Yes, for more clarification.
O’Mara: OK. And do you stand by that today, that what you saw is was a Ground-and-Pound event?
Good: It looked like that position was a Ground-and-Pound type of position, but I couldn’t tell 100% that there were actually fists hitting faces.
O’Mara: But you did see [reading] “the guy in the top in the black hoodie pretty much just throwing down blows on the guy kind of MMA-style.”
Good: Meaning arm motions going down on the person on the bottom. Correct.
O’Mara: You’re’ not going to tell the jury here today that you saw fists hit flesh or face if you didn’t actually see it, right?
Good: I wouldn’t tell them that anyway, because i didn’t actually see it.
O’Mara: Great, thanks very much , no further questions.
BDLR: Not to elaborate but the thing that Mr. O’Mara said from the transcript, the bottom line, you needed to clarify after that to make sure that everybody understood that you did not hear or see fists the guy on the top hitting the guy on the bottom.
Good: Both sides made me clarify.
BDLR: Is that correct?
Good: That’s correct.
BDLR: You did not see blows on the guy on the bottom, correct?
Good: Correct
BDLR: Thank you, no further questions.

I am happy that you see this with 20/20 clarity.
I can tell you from my Vietnam experiences that chit doesn't happen in a text book/hindsight kind of way.
Put yourself in both shoes (Zimmerman/Trayvon).

Not going to rehash the trial.
It's over.
Justice was demanded (by political powers).
Justice has been served (but not to your liking).
Sign a petition and circumvent the law, your choice.
