Maybe we can balance the budget this way!

DENVER (AP) — Colorado's legal marijuana market is far exceeding tax expectations, according to a budget proposal released Wednesday by Gov. John Hickenlooper that gives the first official estimate of how much the state expects to make from pot taxes.

The proposal outlines plans to spend some $99 million next fiscal year on substance abuse prevention, youth marijuana use prevention and other priorities. The money would come from a statewide 12.9 percent sales tax on recreational pot. Colorado's total pot sales next fiscal year were estimated to be about $610 million.

I hope it lasts. My biggest concern would be that the 25% tax rate will suffocate the market. I had heard that on the first day the mark up of pot in the dispensaries was hitting 400% above the black market. Tac a 25% tax on top of that and the users are getting screwed bid time. Were I a pot smoker I do not think id be willing to panther much more especially when pot is so readily available.

We will have to wait and see how their program works over time and if other states follow suit.

Since the FAA & Feds still test for weed, I am willing to sell my urine for $10 an oz.
It would be higher but you will probably fail for alcohol content anyway... 😛

I thought you were big on law Ms Tree.

The sell and use of marijuana is still against federal law.

I guess like Obama you pick and choose what laws to follow to fit your libtard agenda.

I also agree with the protests and civil disobedience during the 1960's.

I do believe in the rule of law so long as the law is just and protects the public good. Having the government intrude in a persons private life is not justified in my opinion. To say people can smoke tobacco and drink alcohol but cannot smoke weed is hypocritical at the very least.

Feel free to boil it down to your simplistic binary rant if it makes you happy.

I would think that having the DOJ not pursue a fail policy of drug enforcement would make you happy. Why waste even more money on something that obviously does not work. I guess in your binary world anything Obama does is wrong regardless of the reality of it.

He took an oath to uphold American law and has REFUSED to do so. Add that to his list of lies.

I find the reference to my "binary world" peculiar.

Are you saying I only see things in black (0) or white (1) and never gray?

Or

Is that supposed to be a subtle joke where you are referencing my  "socialist programing: 2+2=5 (a liberals ability to self-delude) Vs 2+2=4 (reality)  comment by implying I cannot see "1+1=2 (reality) Vs conservative programming: 1+1=3" (which is how binary works)

"Girl Scout sells 117 cookie boxes in two hours outside pot dispensary"

"Want to sell a lot of Girl Scout Cookies? Set up shop outside a pot dispensary.

Just about everyone loves Girl Scout Cookies. And one 13-year-old girl came up with an ingenious strategy to significantly boost her sales: setting up shop outside a San Francisco medical marijuana dispensary.

In a major surprise to no one, it was a huge hit, with Danielle Lei selling 117 boxes in just two hours.

Danielle’s mother Carol said she supervised the sale on Monday and that it was the second time she’s allowed her two daughters to sell their Girl Scout Cookies outside of a Green Cross establishment.

"You put it in terms that they may understand," Carol said in an interview with Mashable, who first reported the story. "I'm not condoning it, I'm not saying go out in the streets and take marijuana [...] It also adds a little bit of cool factor. I can be a cool parent for a little bit."

And for a little context on just how intertwined these two things are, one of the more popular and potent strains of medical marijuana is in fact called Girl Scout Cookies.

In fact, the website Leafly says that the Girl Scout Cookies strain was invented by San Francisco-based rapper Berner. So, in a manner of speaking, it’s all coming full circle."
