Gotta love those that have our better interests to heart. Flight attendant retires today after 43 years and no mangement types show up at gate to greet her and wish her well. Cactus is such a WONDERFUL place to work right? MGT should be ashamed ! And NO she didn't tell them NOT to show up.

Since you are not naming names, I won't either. But if it who I think it is, she commutes out of PIT. She has been so nice and professional to work with over the past quarter century!

What a wonderful person and nice lady. I got to say my goodbyes a few weeks ago, she seemed very happy with her decision. I will miss her.

She sure did commute out of PIT. Her supervisor ought to be ashamed.

I know she will enjoy her retirement. She used to sit in the Charlotte crew room and count down the trips she had left and talk about all the great things she would do once she left US Airways.

On behalf of all of my FFOCUS colleagues a thank you for a job well done. Enjoy your retirement.

I think there was an old US Air slogan "US Air begins with you" referring to customer satisfaction. For me I can honestly say that my loyalty ibegins with you, the front liners. Without all of the great people I've met along the way US Airways for me begins with you.

Because frankly without you, US is just another airline and IMO not a very good one.

Congrats to her! Let this be a lesson to the rest of us who remain.

To the retiring FA: Thank you for your 43 years of service!!! You've been making US fly since before I was born!!! 😀

If it's who I'm thinking of she was on Rome and didn't even tell the crew until they were on the bus back to the airport AFTER their layover. She was asked why she didn't tell anyone and she didn't want the crying and such. Asked about what her supervisor had to say, she said she didn't even TELL her supervisor. Some people just don't want all that comes with retirement. I really hope she enjoys her retirement and enjoys her life well desereved outside of the airline industry. BRAVO to you! ! ! Smooth skies.

We had the same situation once where someone quietly retired and no one knew til after the fact. Paperwork is not cut and sent to supervisiors until the day the f/a goes off the property. Therefore, unless we have mind readers, sometimes the fact is not known at the time.

The f/a in our situation recieved many cards and a gift from the mgmt people at our base. In my 30 some odd years here, if you want something kept secret, you keep your mouth closed. If in fact you want it known, you just tell the person sitting next to you on the jumpseat................

Great accomplishment making it 43yrs with this company!! We just had 3 mechanics retire from Pit line with combine senority of 130yrs!! No fanfare, thinking just a cake and a piece of paper!! The way the "Sandbox" looks at it is "Oh Goody" more top scale employee's out the door!!!

Sorry , it wasn't Rome CLT. It was --- CLT. US AIRWAYS MGT should be ashamed. From now on its about " me , the line personnel" and no NO MGT types. Your time is DONE !!

Why do unions celebrate people taking entry level jobs out of high school and never advancing beyond that?
Why would anyone be a ramper, gate agent or FA for life?

Are there 32000 management positions open at US? If not, then there's your answer. At one time (not anymore) this job was considered a career job. They paid well, good benefits and once you got in people didnt want to leave. I'm often told by my manager that they would be making more if they had stayed as a PSS and just worked some overtime than they are working now. Not only that but they get crummy shifts and have to deal with all kinds of c&#( that isnt worth the money they make (imo).

PS- I often wonder why not everyone is the CEO of the company. You know, why stop at manager when you should be looking to move up the ladder. 😛

That is the difference between union people (7% of Americans) and everyone else. In every job I had I have done my best with the very real idea of getting a promotion, while in the union world it is all about putting in ones time and getting to the point that no one bothers you. A pathetic way to live especialy for an American with unlimited potential! 🙁

It's actually 13% of the workforce, and once again you have no clue.

In a unionized workplace you dont have to worry about nepotism and kiss asses like yourself who brown nose the boss to get ahead.

And in MTC when you get a lead position its based on seniority and a panel interview.

Why dont you go work for Walker in WI with your backwards attitude.

Because its a job that pays very well and people enjoy it.

Its their life so who made you judge and jury?

Sounds like Doug now.

Why would you be a gopher for dog and be at his beckon will?
