I have to disagree with you about there being too much Mainline flying out of there. Remember that PI actually made money, and GSO along with many other Small Stations were part of it. I worked in EWR for several years, and we had around 5 flts a day to GSO. From what I can recall, most of them did very well on a regular basis. DL even jumped into the market for a while until they realized that PI had it covered. GSO had flts to LGA, BOS, along with several other stations. With DELL and FedEx coming into the region, the company should see a sharp increase in traffic. Hasn't there been much discussion on these boards about how much DL has been building up in GSO??? As they add flights with Mainline equipment, US pulls back and fights with RJ's and Express. This is the very reason that this Airline has gone down the Toilet over the years!!AL-PS-PI-AW said:Yup....while it looked good on paper, it was an awful decision to have so much mainline flying, with so many diffrent types of A/C, back in the day agter the US/PI merger.
PHL,PIT,CLT and BWI were the major hubs at the time. I guess we could have called DAY,SYR,IND,CLE,GSO and MIA secondary hubs, and LGA,BOS,DCA and ORF focus cities. WHAT A MESS!!
I look back at a 1989 US timetable I have from after the merge and it looks like a joke. Why it has taken almost 17yrs to correct all these failures is beyond me.

BINGO!ringmaruf said:You seem to forget that it doesn't matter. Once they drop mainline, like now, the CWA employees can become Mainline Express, with the wages that entails.
Then, they can add back up to two daily mainline flights, and yet the agents stay Mainline Express. It's nothing new, they've done this in half a dozen cities already.
