Horrible night in PHL

Anotherl T-storm and East arrival pattern night in Philly. Lotsa long, long delays and cancelations. That are already affecting AM originators from the outstations.
Not to mention nightmarish taxi out times.

Anyone have any numbers?
and there are those who actually question why intl captains put on 15 minutes extra gas for a nine hour flight into PHL, in the winter.

The US Airways snack boxes have a shelf-life of 12 years, I believe.

I should pick-up a few.

Hmmm, do they come with a little package of Chiclets like the MREs do? And the "package" of toilet paper?

Come to think of it, that would be a great item for US Airways flights. Certainly with MREs, the utility folks like LavMan wont have to worry about lav service....

Dang, you guys are prepared!

The MREs in my bunker are Desert Storm vintage. Probably as tasty as that that round of cheese that Wolfe sent me for xmas. At least I have plenty of water and ammunition.

This post is double ROT-13 encrypted to abate the snoops in Tempe.

Some of the stuff will probably still be good as long as it wasn't in the heat after D.S.

I buy a case every 6 months or so and then "test" one meal every few weeks to ensure consistency. I'm not afraid to buy cases that are 3 or 4 years old. And frankly, the Meal XXIII - XXV series menus were better. When they started adding omelets, tuna, and other crap to the menus, things went downhill.

heard on nbc10 philly that Flight 598 PHL to LAS stayed on the taxiway area for 6 hrs before it got airborne late last nite and that passengers were mad and angry
Cant wait for the cellphone videos to show up. I heard that there were some flights that had actually cancelled but were stuck in the conga line and couldn't get back to the terminal for a long, long time.

FWIW, It was a bad storm:

I have lots of canned foods with high water content. I also have medical kits and defibrillators, checked every six months by me. Sufficient entertainment, i.e., way outdated Sega games and duplicate board games.

Last night was a perfect example why a passenger bill of rights is a bad idea. It would have resulted in 100s of cancelations and people would have been stuck almost as long just trying to get off the planes in PHL and then would have had to come back to a bigger mess today.

Yah, its one of those times where there just simply isn't a whole heck of a lot that can be done. Mother Nature decided to throw a tomahawk at the mid-atlantic/northeast and it hit square between the eyes.

Folks want to get places, but the risk of accident, damage, and death from thunderstorms is just too severe. But they don't understand. They have a plane ticket and, by gum, they're entitled to get there when the ticket says "departure time" and "arrival time."

Frankly, just tell them the facts and get on with it.

How did the TATL Operation go last night, any 3am recrewing we hear about from time to time?

You people are starting to scare me! I think I should go buy a gas mask. Did you know that canned foods are lined with some sort of "plastic" substance that leaks estrogen into your food??? <----NO JOKE! Half the men in Finland are sterile because they eat lots of canned goods. The gas mask I buy must be certified for beans. 😱

:cop: TOPIC DRIFT! :cop:

While entertaining, the comments on "survivalist" hoarding are not germane to the topic of the operational issues at PHL last night. Please remain on topic. Thanks.

Sure IAD, EWR, JFK were all a mess too; the northeast goes through this all time with thunderstorms.

The difference is no other airline has put basically their entire route structure there.

You must have US confused with the old US. A large portion of the route structure is on the Left Coast....

Its not Wolf's airline. Its now Ma and Pa Kettle's airline. Now only if Ma and Pa would put some Ketel One in the drink carts....
