Following the life of this thread shows me that the words of a US F/A are true. It seems this whole debacle was little more than a pissing match between PHL maintenance and the Flight Crew, both of whom wanted to show the other who was more important.

In the end neither side wins this battle. The flight crew will soon need to find a job flying rubber dog crap out of China, and that maintenance worker will be changing oil at the Jiffy Lube!
