How Many Have Crossed?

So much for the solidarity, the MAP’s phones won't quit ringing with the AMFA guys calling trying to get their names at the head of the list.

I had to fill out an End of Contract Survey yesterday. My time here is getting shorter and shorter with every phone call. It looks as if I will be out of here before Thanksgiving.

Interesting Note:

Thirty AMFA boys went to Macon Georgia to work for Timco a week or so ago. Ten have already been fired.

Yes, the available jobs are disappearing rapidly, plus exactly what I said would happen is happening. I am getting emails everyday about some jobs in Wichita and they are really looking hard for someone to come in. The available contractors are running low and I was told that there is a general feeling in the contracting industry that the striking mechs from nwa are bad news. Oh and the Wichita jobs are working right along side good ol'union boys who have no problem with it.

"Just the fact's Ma'am, just the facts"

Well things have obviously "shifted" in favor of NW management, with regard to the AMFA strike !!

Here's another FACT !!

Once your labeled a SCAB, It stick's !!!!!!!!!!!

(You know, like when you run over a SKUNK, with your car)

You NEVER GET RID OF THE "STINK" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SCABS  ("Pee..You") !!!!!!!!!

NH/BB's

You are wrong NH/BB. That may have held true twenty or thirty years ago but not today. It is the unions that are looked upon with resentment. You will see more companies declaring war on the unions. You guys are a thing of the past. There will be a time that unions will be needed again but for now the ones that are in existence today are useless.

Just call me a Jack Of All Trades and a quick learner. I do admit that the past few months have been very educational. NWA/AMT you are putting a spin on my words in post 12. That is not what I said.

Hackman I don't think the AMFA mechanics that were here put a lot of time and effort in to their jobs. At least 75% of it went into playing board games, reading and cooking...Yes cooking we found an entire kitchen here. Lets not forget the tremendous effort you guys also put into your ridiculous unions.

Now back to the subject at hand, AMFAMAN how is that seniority list going?

HEY JACK OF ALL TRADES:

if you were that quick of a learner than you'd be cooking, playing board games, reading...etc....these guys had their act so together and ran a tight ship that they had the time to do all this....you jealous? Yes the SKILLED UNION TECHNICIAN can get a tire changed without taking 3 hours....He/She can do a brake job in less than 5 hours....WHY????

because they ARE NOT YOU....

you cost the company more money in delays and cancellations than these guys who have the time to do other things.

I am sure the Company knows this also....They just will never admit it.

....Ahhhhh the Omnipotent One declares the future of unions to be a "thing of the past"! Well guess what nostradumbass, YOU are wrong. the same corrupt corporate system exist today as it did years gone by and with a government which has obviously forsaken the "little man" in exchange for BIG $$$ we need UNIONISM more than ever! Do we need leadership change?....without a doubt, but if we fail to UNITE you can kiss your way of life goodbye!

Hey groundcontrol newbie keep up. There is power in numbers, where there were 450 AMFA AMT's there are 140 here doing the same work. That was the whole problem and that is what AMFA couldn't understand. When a company is paying an employee forty dollars an hour for eight hours and that employee is only working one to two hours during that shift something has got to give. We still have plenty of down time but it is spent servicing ground equipment. A tire change averages about thirty minutes depending on type of aircraft and a brake change is averaging one and a half hours also depending on aircraft type. A brake disc alignment tool would greatly speed things up but the guys are working with what they have. The company is still rebuilding its tool supply from what was thrown away and hidden before the strike. It’s tough to do anything in a timely manner when you don't have the proper tools.

local 12, I hate to be the one to have to inform you but the unions and its members have already failed to unite. That is why unions are worthless. The biggest weapon in their arsenal has been rendered mute.

Thats what scare me and should scare the flying public..........140 doing the work of 450, how much is being deferred, how much is being whipped, and most important , how much is being done properly according to AMM's?

AP you are looking at it backwards, it isn't that 140 AMT's are doing the work of 450 it is that 450 AMT's were doing the work that it only took 140 to do in the first place. To my knowledge all work is being performed by the AMM's. Very seldom is anything deferred on the aircraft during T.A. and Over Night inspections. When they are it is due to lack of parts. Since I have been here I have deferred a Sky Team decal installation, NWA/KLM decal removal and a few paint items. All due to inclement weather conditions. I have MEL'd a few LAV's and a position light. The position light would have been replaced had we had a working platform truck. The only pencil whipping that has been done is on bogus F/A write-ups. Each and every one of those is at least looked at and some type of work performed just to say something was done, so I don’t guess it is exactly pencil whipping but it is so trivial you can’t help but to look at it any other way.

Well, we are not covering for a guy who spends all his time cooking in the kitchen and drawing a paycheck but never actually working on aircraft and making extra money for it. We are also not covering for the likes of "LaP" and amfa crosser who shouldnt have crossed, wow is he ever an example of union protection. So you have it right it was 450 doing the job of 140. The difference is we dont see a job as an entitlement we see it as a job that we have to actually do something we have to earn and deserve, not something that is owed us because of what gang we belong to.

Opus, you are indeed correct about not carrying anyone. We have three guys in our zone that we refuse to work with. We are bringing attention to them and hopefully they will be gone soon.

“I am a proud wife of an AMFA striker. I think I am having more difficulty then my husband is in dealing with friends crossing the picket line. Several close friends have crossed the picket line in MSP. To make matters worse, one "friend" was a previously laid off mechanic with 1995 seniority who had no legitimate chance of ever returning to NWA but gladly took a job from a former co-worker without so much as a wink of an eye. The other "friend" had the nerve to come to my house and have dinner with my family the week before crossing the picket line. Can you believe it! Came to my family's home, ate our food, played with our kids, and listened to how we are struggling to make it, only to stab us all in the back and cross the picket line. I am so disgusted!
I've heard so many excuses from insiders (work control, etc) still working within the company stating that some these SCABS did what they had to do in order to provide for their families and that we (my husband and I) did not understand each of their (SCABS) "unique" situations which "forced" them to cross the picket line.
That is the biggest load of crap I have ever heard in my life as I am currently pregnant with twins and for sometime had no medical insurance(could not afford COBRA)to even seek prenatal care. If anyone ever had a reason to cross my husband certainly did. I have seen my husband riddled with guilt watching his pregnant wife work full-time and overtime only to barely make ends meet. Still, he never crossed the picket line. Instead, he has taken any opportunity possible to make a few extra bucks. He has had to endure comments from unknowing union people telling him stupid things like "sometimes you have to swallow your pride" or "you know a job is a job." I can honestly say I have never been represented by a union in my life, but I fully understand the complexity of the situation, the honor of the union and what it stands for. I have personally told friends and family how ashamed I would be if my husband crossed the picket line. I would no longer respect him as a man if he crawled back for another kick in the pants. My husband is just worth so much more than that stupid company can ever offer him. Although it will not be easy, we will get through this. I stand by him 100%. I am so proud of the rest of you who have chosen to continue the fight and keep your integrity by standing united and choosing not to cross the picket line. Sorry so long but I have been dying to comment for some time. Happy Holidays. I am certainly thankful for all of you.
Proud wifeâ€

I must admire this woman’s convictions but her ignorance is so absurd it is profane. I’m sure you union fanatics are right there with her. Parents will give their lives for their children yet this woman is so blind she would be ashamed if her husband crossed a picket line to take care of his family. So what is he doing? He’s out scrounging up odd jobs to make a few bucks when he could be at a gravy job like this making at least three times the money with benefits for his family. I wonder what kind of lifestyle his children are going to be raised in now. There are not very many jobs out there where you can make $27.00 per. hr. with benefits. I think that this guy is learning that, the hard way.
AMFA here is your LEGACY.
For those of you who crossed do not let the poor brainwashed souls get you down. You made a choice and it was an individual choice, which is a huge step in the right direction for some of you guys. As for being SCABS, don’t worry about it. This industry is full of pots calling kettles black. It’s really no big deal. AA is going to be performing struck work, which effectively makes them all SCABS. The IAM is doing struck work right here at NWA, which effectively makes every single ramper a SCAB. Look at all the TWAers who stole the “nAAtives†jobs. They are SCABS themselves and so are the ones that work shoulder to shoulder with them. Like I said before, the term scab will be banned from the aviation industry, for soon the majority of the workforce will be SCABS. I sure hate it for you union folk. It is time for you to come to terms with your individuality.

PTO,
Your right, how absurd. This woman is a poor excuse for a mother. She should be spayed. Risking the life of her unborn twins so that her husband can save face..........What an idiot!!!!! Woman, tell your husband to grow some nads, we don't need anymore stupid people in the world.

 PTO---- What the hell do you think you know about TWA??? Not a damn thing! So don't stick your nose where it doesn't belong!!!! Putsa via mia dupa!!!
