Just a question for the HP Crews. I flew out to PHX on the A320 from PIT the other day, and I noticed it was pretty basic. I called it the stripped down version with the AM radio. Then on the way back to PIT, the A320 again, but leather seats, which was very nice. Were they updating the interiors? And I noticed the galley with just a bulkhead and curtain? And, what about the coat closet? Just a few observations, The F/A crews were great! Extremely friendly and professional. Thanks, and have a great week!

Jetmann out..... B)

Any chance of converting all seats to the leather? They are so much easier to keep clean.

I know some interior engineers and at this time no plans to convert the rest of the fleet. LCC...enough said. I think the first with leather was N675AW, and we've taken I think 4 or 5 more deliveries since then. The leather is sweet and could spoil ya.

When the leather seats were introduced with some new deliveries a few months ago, they had mentioned that leather will actually last longer and result in cost savings. Even thought the cost is greater up front, the longer term should be more cost effective. Coat closets went away long ago, none of the AWA fleet has a coat closet any longer, except the 757's which have a small narrow closet. This is cost savings again. The closets were removed for two more seats in 1st and the curtains were removed after 9/11 but the mesh curtain is being phased in now to make it more consistent with US East. You have remember...AWA was always a low cost, full service airline and thats the business model that is expected for the new US Airways. Full service simply means the basic full service items....1st class seats, assigned seats, food service, movies, it doesn't mean the "best of everything", but simply "everything"

Well, every US/East a/c has a F/C coat closet which will certainly make Tempe rethink this issue. Most F/C customers expect to have their jackets hung up (which isn't asking for much) and some will even piss and moan if you don't jump over people to hang their frock WHEN they want it hung. What will a f/a do if the condescending gesture of a coat at the tip of a fingertip is omitted from the boarding drama? And where in the hell will I store Mrs. Leibevitz' fur coat or store my shopping bag of chatzkis?

we have a place to hang coats behind the last row in f/c. Just enough space to hang all 12. We just don't have closets, only a few 757 have 'em. I think the closets are a waste of space.

I just flew on 677AW this morning (58 LAS-JFK). The interior was spotless-seemed brand new-different first class seats from what I had been on prior. Is this a new aircraft? How long has it been in service?

As mentioned in other posts, there is a marked difference between east and west--in product but not service--your crews are great 🙂

My best to you all...

The word we are getting through newsletters is that next year will start the beginning of things being consistant with one another..e.g...US Airways Magazine will be on all a/c and the safety videos will be the same,,as well as the safety card .

Coka vs pepsi will be resolved soon, as well as Bud vs Miller. The inflight team is now working to bring the food items to the same level.

Also, you will get to see two different movies in a month as opposed to one. We use to do that. I'm glad it's back.

And we can only pray glassware comes back.

One website coming soon. I hope it will be very user friendly.

I know I don't have to remind you that we merged as a co just a month ago. I think the company is doing a great job.

Somewhere around 5 months, give or take one month.

I wonder when they do start to reconfigure a/c if they will change the US-east 757's to the US-west layout of 14 seats. Since US-east has way more 757's than US-west I wonder what way they will go. The US-east f/c seats on the 737-300, 400 and A-319 have 12 seats. The A-320 has 16. I know that changing the configuration is way down the road but just curious how they will change them. Eventually I'm sure they will do it. I remember the MD-80 reconfiguration between Phase 1 and 2 not to mention the Phase 1.5(partial reconfiguration). When boarding it was horrible if they swapped a/c prior to arrival into the next city. It was constant.

HP buses have never had coat-closets. Pax bring in more revenue than coats. Like the gentleman said, "LCC".
WRONG! A/C 620AW-635AW all had a closet at the current 1A 1B location. It was removed during the Franke rein. PAX total went from 148 to 150. It is correct to say that the 319 has NEVER had a coat closet.

Yeah, the Easterns had (one still does) a placard stating that the coat hook was not to be used during taxi, takeoff, and landing or during turbulence. The buss fleet just have a placard with the load limit.

The US-east Airbus 319/320/321 have the silver coat hooks on the bulkhead walls behind the last row of f/c seats. I can honestly say that I have never seen a coat hung there.

Thats not entirely true. The older A320's when delivered, did have coat closets with a an accordian style door on it, the closet was huge, but thats where 1ab are right now.

As part of the LCC concept, I wouldnt' be surprised to see configurations more in line with US West right now. But you're right..re-configurations are probably going to happen later rather than sooner.
