US Airways Update
Negotiation - Transformation Plan

To: US Airways Mechanic and Related Employees and Maintenance Training Specialists

Your Negotiation Committee and Representatives from the Grand Lodge, our financial advisor and Legal Counsel continued negotiations with the Company on Monday, Jan 3, 2005. This morning, Jan 5, 2005, we offered a resolution to the Company addressing all of the issues involved. We believe this resolution provides the means for the survival of this Company and also provides for your future job security.

Based on the above, we expect the Company will sign the agreement this afternoon. This agreement is subject to your approval and we expect Judge Mitchell to grant us the time necessary for ratification.

Your continued support has made this possible. We will continue to keep you advised of all future developments as they occur.

Wishing you a better new year,

Sincerely and fraternally,

William O'Driscoll
PRESIDENT-DIRECTING
GENERAL CHAIRMAN

My guess is you will match the concessions given by the TWU to AA.

Then AA will no doubt go back and get more concessions from the TWU-outside of bankruptcy, so you will be in the same boat giving even more next year. They wont stop until this is a minimum wage industry.

There is no T/A, a proposal was given to the company and the IAM is awaiting a response back from the company.

The IAM is expecting to hear back from the company sometime this afternoon.

Do not get your hopes up.

700 - this quote leads people to believe that the company will accept - do you not think that is the case?

Thanks

The company has said it will get back with Mr O'Driscoll and the rest of the negotiating committee this afternoon.

The IAM believes it is addresses the company's needs as well as the IAM members.

No one knows what the company will come back with yet.

This ought to be interesting.....

Wow, you IAM guys sure were quick finally getting an actual proposal to the company after all these months of supposed negotiations.

Way to wait till the last second.

Hope it is not too little too late.

..... Thanks for caring.......Haste makes Waste.... ;)

Rico,

The IAM has been in discussions with the company since 11/2/04, the company was very slow on returning information requested due to the company not having enough people in finance to provide the information requested and much of the information given was incorrect and had to be corrected and resent. The request for information was given to US Airways the third week of October.

Eventhough the first official proposal was given to the company on 12/16/04 for M&R and the Ramp gave one on 12/15/04, just because official proposals were not exchanged the two parties were discussing issues and exchanging ideas in a verbal form about what direction to go.

But see once again I would not expect a non-IAM member and someone who is not involved in the process to know what is going on.

Yeah, whatever, they let ALPA bankers and accountants sift through all the financial data they needed half a year ago, but you are telling everyone that the company kept the IAM in the dark info-wise all the way up til now...

Sure, that makes sense.

As for "discussions since 11/2/04", that alone says it all

In case you have not noticed, we were in a dire financial situation, and actual bankruptcy long before that. So I am less than impressed with the length of time your union saw fit to "discuss" things, let alone produce actual working proposals.

Like I said, hope it is enough, soon enough.

In case you did not notice the IAM has been locked in a legal dispute over the THEFT of the Airbus work.

Lets see lets sitdown and talk with a company who violated the last concessions with the ink still wet.

Yep, you can really trust them.

Until the airbus situation was resolved (won by the IAM) there was no need to sitdown and talk with liars and thieves.

The Airbus award is around $15 Million wonder how much in litigation costs it cost the company.

Really...?

All of the other unions have had ongoing disputes and grievences with the company (that is a continual process pal), but all of the other unions saw fit to sit down and discuss things... The whole "company survival" thing seemd kinda important to everyone else.

Nope, poor excuse.

But honestly, it matters not. At least there is some movement, even if it is down to the wire....
