James Little, TWU president, pushes in-house work at American Airlines

Little's story sounds good in the Tulsa World.

There is one major problem... the MD-80's and a whole slew of 757's are going to the desert.

It sure looks like there will be another large layoff coming up.

I hope I am wrong.

Now to add fuel to the fire, apparently two 514 officers instead of being transfered like other RIFed members have been found jobs in Tulsa in the Title II realm. I guess 'they can do that brother', hopefully many members will file grievances against the TWU and AA for allowing this to happen. Many members are having to leave Tulsa and Sam and Debbie get to stay, boy this is justice!

Charlie did you think the TWU international would not do something for their boy Sam after he delivered the yes vote in Tulsa? Like they say on ESPN C'mon Man. haha

I would have done the same in their situation. Having qualifications for other types of work are recognized within the agreement. So if I wanted to stay in Tulsa I would exhaust all options...

They can do that brother!

Unelected, unaccountable. TWU has got to go. Wake the 'F' up, people!

The only problem is that no one else was offered this kind of package. I seem to remember a certain Chair. of Maint. that was put back out on the floor and people were hostile towards him, so he all of a sudden is Management and has since moved to AFW. HSS I figured you would take the response you did, someday I hope the 'Kool-Aid' fountain will dry up and you will restore some lost brain cells!

Will this be done for the many AMTs who are qualified machinists? Many of these guys face a lay off or downgrade to OSM.

It was good that Jim Little came to Tulsa to remind the company and the community of the post bankruptcy commitment to grow the maintenance operations here in Tulsa. This is good news 🙂

There is now, and will be a more urgent need for machinists. Those who can meet the qualifications should get their name in the hat...

The writting is on the wall "brother" with all the new 737's, airbuses, 787, and 777-300 what did little say
was going to happen with the Tulsa mechanics as we no longer have checks that need to be accomplished?
Since it will be yrs down the road until they need heavy checks, what was his plan for that?

He also said he agrees that a merger with USAir is a good thing, so did he say how they were going to intergrate the USAir guys in or are we going to be intergrated into their senoirity list? Who's going to be the next TWA GUY us or them?

Did he talk about how long the two companies would operate seperately as UAL and CAl are?

"Since 2003 our guys have decreased the amout of time for checks," so did anyone ask him well why didn't they the TWU save the jobs of those workers who, put the wing tips on, decreased the check times? Why didn't they dig deep into American pockets as they said ? Oh I guess those guys just worked themselves right out of a job.

Its a real shame when guys who's families are in Tulsa agree to work for less, take positions as OSM.
Are these the same guys who said that the line guy's should not make more or get a regional pay to offset the cost of living?

The airlines model is changing and if you guys in T-Town dont see the writting on the wall, airline are going to contract
out as much work as they can. AA is the last of the big carriers to have in house maintenance.
There is Nothing that the TWU can do to save YOUR job. They can tell you what you want to here but some where down the road here AA is going to follow Delta/UAL/CAL/SWA jetblue and Alaska. Just like they filed for BK.
maybe you get a few yrs more but its coming, just think about that.

The TWU is going to get as much money (DUES) out of us as they can before they say well thats the way its is "brother"
we fought the fight but?

If the TWU was serious about bringing back work they would attempt to get all UNIONs in the Industry together
and force the FAA, (put preasure on them) to bring work back to the USA.
Did J. Little say he would work with the IAM/IBT/AMFA at all of the carries to do this NO.

Ratchet up Capacity to use the Tulsa base available space? Did anyone ask him doing what since the work will not be done for many yrs with new Aircraft ariving every month?

With work going away there will be LESS work for machinist, What are you saying?

Ever hear the term "sittin on a gold mine"? That is what AA has in Tulsa for piece part repair. I think there will be allot of growth in that aspect of the operations here at Tulsa M&E center and that means more qualified machinists will be in high demand... B)
