That's what I meant. Thanks for clarifying.
The point being that having pros at the table wouldn't mean the end of the idea of CBAs being representative of what the membership wants.
All a professional negotiator sitting in that room with our guys would do is look professional with his suit, tie and briefcase. So what would be the point if we still have a NC drafting the language that we want? What would be the role of that professional (and probably very expensive) Lawyer or team? Would he say "You should ask for this or you shouldn't ask for that"

And again has this guy or team ever lived OUR contracts? No.

Kev if you ever went to trial with a Lawyer, the Lawyer only gives you recommendations if you should argue your case or accept a plea deal. Yes they do argue your case based on what you request of them but they're not the ones who ultimately sit in that accused box being grilled by the prosecution. You're still the one ultimately who winds up having to convince the jury of your guilt or innocence.

Who said anything about people shouting out their thoughts?
Having observers on hand not only fosters member engagement, it sends a great message to the company's negotiators...

Yes I know. AMFA has had a world of success over there at SWA by having those observers present. Did you read that incredible contract they just got over there?

Oh wait.

Sorry but my thought on anyone who wants observers tells me that they don't trust their NC or their Union. And if you don't trust your Union then maybe you should bow out and not participate anyway?

Besides Kev you know those rooms aren't like operating rooms with glass windows you can watch down from. So what happens if one of the guys chosen to watch is a complete blooming moron? It does get heated in there sometimes and sometimes it's real and "maybe" sometimes it's an act.

You think if Joe Moron is in there he's going to be able to hold his tongue?

I wonder how many times in those AMFA negotiations an observer has wound up being a distraction and had to leave the room? I'm sure those negotiators would never put that out publicly. But I'm sure the guy who got kicked out of the room will be all over FB telling "His" version of the story.

I can just imagine how that's going to fly.

BTW it's Friday. We should have a new update out in a few hours that we can discuss.

Maybe labor should stop waiting for other people to tell them what's "allowed."
+1

labor always advanced when it did prohibited things. Now our labor leaders are management mouthpieces telling us that we cant do squat. Ever since the apa got fined.

Absolutely. But what's the strategy to get them "all" to realize that and come together in support of each other as one huge collective united voice? How do you break people from the mindset of only being in it for themselves?
leadership

You could make the same point about a Fleet guy doing an AMT CBA, or vice versa.

That said, in this context, it doesn't matter. A pro negotiator isn't there because they've lived it, they're there to get the people that have lived it the CBA they want.

I guess you're talking about Sean Doyle? Do you see Sean's name on those maintenance updates? I don't.

You have too much faith IMO for these so called pros.

By the same token you have too much faith in these high school dropouts IMO. You don't take puppies to a dogfight. Not a difficult concept!

according to weasle, our fleet contract is complex and a language from Mars that only high school dropouts could understand. lol. Gosh forbid we use smart people.

Maybe they should hire Ford and Harrison? Aren't they supposedly the best labor negotiators and work for whoever pays them.

That's it. They should hire Ford and Harrison.

They could always use a dummy who went to Seminary School?

How about that?

High school drop outs?

There people in both committed that have college degrees.

Didn't see people at PMUS complaining about them and the 2014 CBA.

They HAVE Lawyers advising them. One phone call away.

Why you guys can't get this is ridiculous.

BTW I bet you're a High School Dropout yourself.
