President Lombardo Meets with AA Negotiating Team
Published 21 Jun, 2016
International President Harry Lombardo met with presidents of TWU’s American Airlines locals yesterday, taking a short break from ongoing negotiations preparations for an honest and frank status check on bargaining with the company.

“We’re investing an incredible amount of resources into this,” Lombardo told the group. “And if you need more, tell me. Don’t tell me what you think I want to hear. Tell me what I need to hear.”

Lombardo pledged TWU International’s unconditional support to the negotiating team, and encouraged them to continue to take a hard line leadership role at the bargaining table. “There are no back room deals to be made in this administration,” he explained. “You know what your members need, and we’re going to take this company on, together, to make sure they finally get it.”

The group discussed what articles had been agreed upon so far, and how the negotiation process has been working for the last several months. They strategized new tactics for future bargaining meetings, including how to better communicate with membership, and the ongoing Today We Unite unity campaign.

Secretary Treasurer Alex Garcia also joined the meeting to hammer out specific contract items with the group as they prepare to return to the table later this week.

“We’ve been at this seven months already,” Lombardo remarked. “It’s no one’s fault but American Airlines’ that more progress hasn’t been made.”

It's good to get a Lombardo citing , now can we ramp up the schedule of Negotiations, please?

Just for some perspective to what he said ,"being at it for 7 months", not quite.
They met Dec 3 and then didn't meet again until Jan 11, so maybe something less than 7 months to be honest.

To be more specific, there have been 78 actual Negotiation days,(yes, I counted them) counting today's session, if there was one.
That's a little over 10 weeks, not even 3 months.

But here's this,
In 2003 the company met with all 3 unions for the massive re-write that led to massive bonuses for management.
It took a total of 56 CALENDAR days to get TA's for ALL 3 unions.

There were no scheduling conflicts at all, 7 day negotiations, nobody died, they got it done baby.

If they would have had a 56 day negotiation here, they would have had a TA for us on January 27th, 2016.

That's the answer.

The question is,
"How the membership is being played" for $100 Alex...

Gee is this on topic?
See you can't debate so you make a personal attack and are doing the behavior of taking things off topic and yet you chastise others for doing so
I wonder what people would call that behavior?
I believe it would start with an "H".
your the one who dose not debate. If you do not agree with someone. You call them names your rude condescending your the hypocrite. Your describing your self in your on post. Make fun of my spelling all you want it dose not hurt me. I know the person I am.most people on here are tired of your crap.

Don't you have an AMFA card to sign in crayon?

He has attacked me in several threads, says he doesn't care yet he keeps trolling

True but I've laid off their thread and stayed out of their world for awhile now. And I hit that Cone a few weeks ago and he's not got in my hair since.

The crayon comment was a little mean though but it's a tit for tat because people get mean on you so. Again why I said it's understandable.

I "try" to only get mean when people "try" to get mean with me. Then I'll up the game.

its incredibly sad what this board has come down to    No wonder few of the folks in the past have left

Annotok  If possible  can you give us an insight as to what progress is being made?   Itll be interesting to see the update this week  especially if what Annotok is saying is true   It also would be a positive thing

Is it much easier to get things taken away than it is to improve what you've got, especially when a bankruptcy is about to be filed.

robbed, I would leave that up to Prez and CB. When I was told steam, I wasn't given any details, I just took as a positive that something was rolling. Now I wonder if the Lombardo memo was what they were referring to, maybe them knowing Lombardo was back and about to make a statement. I don't know and that wasn't specifically said, but it seems possible.

thanks bro  i look at it this way   if a high level person such as Lombardo shows up  it does appear to be picking up steam   Itlll be very interesting to see what kind of updates there be come end of the week  But with Lombardo being there it does definintely make and or send a statement depending on the status of the talks    On the other hand  how bad is the company really wanting the deal?    They definitely want a deal to get the synergies   but for us the membership  not at a cost  if you know what i mean

for you LAA guys about overtime,I'm told there CC's and full time agents are called from the same list? which makes no sense to me btw

They do that so the CC is not limited on his ability to earn extra pay since there are far more clerks than chiefs. And for a clerk to get a CC spot he has to be D1 (CC) qualified.

You don't think it makes sense because it's not something you're used to where that's what we are used to and would think you're way is strange.

It's always about familiarity. We need to think more out of the box.
