JFK-CLT to happen soon

I believe it is part 2 of the response to B6 - Doug's letter being part 1.

From what I understand, while this service has been rumored since before the merger, it still wasn't even decided upon until late last week. Target date for beginning in first week in July - to "one up" B6, whose service starts 7/12. Look for an announcement shortly.
US Airways business model is to go after the competition with frequent RJ’s

Hey here's a bright idea.

How about ISP-CLT????

Maybe with a EMB-190????

That could work--no competition on that route, and relief for PHL.

It's such a good idea it will never happen...

CLT doesn't have spare gates, ISP is not a huge market, and CLT is mostly a connecting airport. Most passengers flying ISP-CLT would merely connect there, and anyone who still chooses to fly on US Airways would be just as happy changing planes in PHL.

An EMB-190 would go mostly empty; the one time I flew to ISP, almost everyone there (including yours truly) were flying on the airline with better service, namely Southwest.

JS,

You are wrong on more than one count. ISP could be a huge market if served properly-see Greyhound Air. Long Island is home to a couple of million people. Furthermore, many of the banker types who fly to CLT from LGA happen to live on Long Island, and most would welcome the opportunity to avoid LGA or JFK. I think a larger aircraft would reduce the cost, so a 190 would be perfect.

Piedmont once operated twice a day service to CLT and I believe it was moderately successful.

It would involve going against WN, but what the heck that's what HP did best. Oh, and Southwest does not come close to the service offered by US....at least in my book.

As I said before, it just makes too much sense to happen.....

A few banker types who only fly First Class is not going to fill an EMB-190.

Piedmont also used to fly 737's to CLT from LYH many years ago when I lived there. Times have changed, big time!

Until you actually fly Southwest yourself, your statement
that Southwest does not provide good service is worthless.

Gates must be available, Jetblue is going to start off D Con...

JS,

Why attack me just because I won't fly "your" airline? To be frank, I find many of your statements worthless as well, but I don't say it in public.

You are now free to fly around the country...dismissed..

Over and done...

Isn't the 190 going to have FC, so that would be good for the "banker types"

I'm not attacking you. All I'm saying is that if you insist that Southwest has bad service, I would be interested in some evidence. The general public disagrees and you have no personal experience, so your statement that Southwest has bad service has no merit.

Gates are available only for new entrants.

Per the FAA any airline must be given gate space when seeking service to a new city.

Which is exactly what a "new entrant" is - a new entrant to that city, not a new entrant to the industry (though the two could be the same).

JS,

I don't know what you consider the general public to be, but every frequent business traveler I have spoken to says they offer substandard service..but it's relative. And 3 people I met in LAX tonight were ticked off because they were rerouted three times today. And try watching Airline...says alot. I am not complaining about your choice to fly them, nor do I need to explain my choice to you. I am sure WN appeals to some people, but not to me. PERIOD.

My personal line in the sand is advanced seat assignments. Without them it ain't happening.

Now go back to your WN luv fest and leave me be......

This debate is OVER.

Did these "frequent business travelers" you spoke with actually fly Southwest or is it just more of the "well, they must suck because 'Airline' is proof, and they don't have seat assignments".

I know a few frequent business travelers myself, and they have either not flown on Southwest or they say the service is good.

JS,

What part of this debate is over don't you understand? The people I speak to HAVE flown Southwest, and won't again.

Now stick a fork in it and move on....

Have a nice day.
