I just received my fancy and very expensive mailer from J.W. This is a joke. If you think for one moment that over 1,800 f/a's from TWA who are eligible to vote will cast their vote for J.W. you are kidding. We block vote and will do so again. We vote!!!

How dare he send this mailer to any TWA f/a. I also object that he has access to our addresses. This could be a legal matter. I have not authorized APFA to share my private address with any candidate.

Furthermore, J.W. is NOT entitled to have any of our addresses.

Really? Please let us know who TWA FAs will be block voting for. I'm sure there are many AAFA's who would like to know.

All candidates get a mailing list. On this we are agreed though, as soon as I saw the card I tasted a little bit of vomit in my mouth. Its truly amazing though, that people will do support this slime ball piece of ______ insert you favorite expletive.

Mikey,

Could I get a little info please, specifically the DFW base, domestic, and International.

I'm singling out DFW, purely because of there overwhelming numbers(as opposed to ORD/MIA etc.)

How many F/A's in DFW ?

Is it possible that JW could get elected with the following;

75% of a DFW vote ?
20% of a MIA vote ?
15% of a ORD vote ?
10% of a RDU vote?
5% of a NYC vote?
5% of a BOS vote?

With the Obvious exception of DFW, and their "uneasyness" to Impose upon the COMPANY, I'm just guessing that there are a lot of SENIOR Mama's in these other bases, who, as long as they get their "cushy" bids each month, would'nt care if OSAMA BIN-LADEN was the president of APFA.

You folks are bitching about having an election and choice for Union Leadership.

Hell, those of us in Mechanic and Related have to accept appointed leadership and never get a ballot.

Now that's something worth bitching about !

Good grief, read the guys (Ward) information, if you don't like him then don't cast your ballot his way.

But to take a position that you don't want mailings from candidates is a terrible thing.

Be very greatful you have a choice and election and stop the complaining ! Stay mindful of the days when the TWU represented your Flight Attendant group and be very thankful that is no longer the case.

Nice pricy colorful cards. I wonder who's paying for them? Maybe the food vending is getting to him or reserve is too close for comfort. It's not a junior deal anymore. I bet he's sorry he bartered that 85 hr max.

Anything is possible, as far as voting in a new president. Just look at the state of the US and there are still people who think Bush is doing a terrific job for the country. For people who have the stomach for it, there is the board. There you will see people rewrite history and show jw as an APFA savior VS the slime ball from, where ever you choose him to be from.
The FA bases, I don't know the exact numbers. I can tell you that there are 2940 bid positions at DFW, BOS 478, DCA 273, LAX 1208, NY 2375, MIA 1986, ORD 2074, RDU 60,STL 270 SFO 501. We have another 6000 on reserve vacation availability and long term sick.

Everyone has a take, and think that all people or a particular seniority vote for similar things. People have it upside down, JR people should be working towards better retirement language. But they choose the quick fix dollar right here and now and find themselves years from now wondering how they are going to get by on what they have and what they had wished they had saved but never did.

Many of those SR mama's as people call them are here now, not for the money but for the social structure. I know so quite a few who work side by side with there best friends and are not going to retire. Some people who are retired or near retirement age. Like lunches, golf and hanging out around town with their friends. These ladies do the same but in London RIO, NY or where ever.

I think its a travesty APFA gives him the list. How can he even be on the ballot? Doesn't APFA have an ethics committee?

You can't really depend up bid positions from the bidsheet to determine strength. We have 423 f/as at SLT, but only 270 bid positions.

From the Flight Service website...

Base.....Active..Inactive.....Total
BOS-D 354 27 381
BOS-I 319 15 334
ORD 1562 1562 (no breakdown for active/inactive)
IOR 1421 1421
DFW 2499 220 2719
IDF 1424 78 1502
LAX-D 1078 108 1186
LAX-I 602 36 638
JFK 1956 96 2052
LGA 1159 102 1261
RDU 82 4 86
SFO-D 717 54 771
SFO-I 37 3 40
SLT 401 22 423
DCA-D 263 23 286
DCA-I 104 7 111

Neither Miami Domestic or Miami International had a base headcount on their Web page.

However, even with this information you still can't have a clue as to how the election will turn out. APFA members redefine apathetic for our generation. In the last election, less than 50% of the f/as even bothered to vote, and that was the JW vs THB election where a LOT was at stake (as we all later learned to our dismay).

Mikey, I have always thought your comments were right on point. I agree with you. No more slime ball Ward.

Would anyone here ever vote for a Bush. AKA: Shrub

NO, NO, NO to Ward. Please get the word out to your fellow flight attendants to NOT buy into that old "He got us a great contract" crap. He did not get us anything. The major work on the contract was achieved by the first negotiating team (TA 1) which resigned after the agreement was voted down by the membership (I was a NO voter on TA1). Ward, in fact, lost us a few things which we never regained in TA2. The money was better (marginally) in TA2, but it was not a major gain.

I've spoken to MANY fa's who have stated they will NOT be voting at all because they don't care who wins and they don't like the APFA.

I really think Laura Glading will get in, as Tommie did before her, because of the voters who don't want Glading in but won't vote for John and instead will vote for one of the other candidates. I also think she'll get the vote of people who have no clue that she's, part and parcel, THB all over again.

Glading's team is definitely running a polished war machine in terms of spreading their word (even though it might be reconstructive history) through emails and on BB's, and by handing out bag tags and ID lanyards with their R2R logo on it.

I feel bad for Ward because he is being given full blame for the restructuring agreement while the BOD and the EC are given none (while many of those members are all part of the Glading package). Now those same people are also trying to take any of the credit from him for the 2001 agreement as well.

I'm glad we do have the right to vote and I always send in my ballot and tell everyone else to do so too. When I fly during elections I carry extra stamps with me, and I used to carry #2 pencils, so that anyone who needed one for their ballot could have one.

While I'd like people to agree with me by voting the same way I do, I respect everyone's right to a choice. If Glading wins she has my support to take care of business. I might not always like everyone holding positions in the union, but they are the only union I have.

If you talk to the negotiators for the 2001 contract they will all tell you that the only reason that wasn't MUCH better than it was, was because the TA1 negotiators screwed it for us by agreeing to such a cruddy contract in the first place. After TA1 was agreed to the company refused to go back to the drawing board and insisted on using TA1 in order to negotiate the 2001 one. TA1 was a major mistake because the company had so much money at that point that the crud the Hedges team allowed the company to lay on them must have had the company laughing for a long time to come.

Again, I voted NO on TA1. I would have to take what the 2001 negotiators have to say with a grain of salt because they are for the most part Ward supporters.
