So what is up with the June transfers coming out early? Do we smell a PIT displacement in the air? Recalls? 130 openings for PHL which is a lot. May transfers just came out a week ago. Whats up? 😛h34r:

Don't stir up unnecessary trouble. They're starting a bunch of seasonal flights to Europe. That's what's up.

Not starting trouble but the transfers for June are out 3 weeks ahead of when they usually come out. This is an unusual move and signals the company did it for a reason. Either they are going to displace or recall. I doubt there are enough people waiting for transfer to cover all 130 spots. It is because of the Europe service so where are the people coming from?

With the overstaffing in PIT, I doubt they will recall. My money is on displacements from PIT.

I disagree!

If they just simply open PHL to 130 flight attendants, that would cause overstaffing. (Will anyway) It is probably because of the International expansion.

If they just displace out of PIT. It would cause more junior f/as to be displaced out of PHL to other bases that are short. (i.e. BOS/LGA). That is if it has nothing to do with IT flying.

In short, it is because of the expansion.

We still DO NOT need 130 more in PHL, but....what the hell do we know. We collect a lousy pay check and not work.

Have to say though, not a bad wage to be just "handed" to you if you can survive off of it!!!

Twice, unless the company does an absorption displacement rather than a bumping one. This is rather like unplugging holes in a ship to put the cork in another hole. Still is not addressing the staffing issue overall.

The problem is that so much of our flying is seasonal in PHL. What's the answer?

To cause as little disruption as possible to lives I would think TDY to smaller bases? There may be 80 to come in but that leaves 50 slots to be filled. They will move them out of PIT one way or another.
Twicebaked-you remember this road we went down the last time they displaced. What do you think might happen?

That is kind of my point. I believe that if PIT had to be down sized, they would just displace to fill the void in other bases. By opening a base up for transfers, that only leads me to believe that it is due to increased flying.

And I really don't want to go down the displacement road again!! EVER!!!!!!!!!!

If I can remember correctly, last year before they recalled us they did the same thing. They offered the transfers and then whatever openings were left after that, they recalled to fill in the rest. I think that is what they did last spring. Anyone else remember? After the certificates and contract is merged, things wil be changing and they are gonna have to recall. They want to reduce the % of reserves and add more blocks...so that to me says recall. With more EMB 190's and more International flying...sounds like a recall. IMO. 😉

JUNE TRANSFER POSTING

In anticipation of the Seasonal Flying and understaffing in BOS and LGA the Company issued the following Transfer Posting for June:

BOS + 25
LGA + 5
PHL + 130

The Transfer bids close at twelve noon, Thursday March 8, 2007. The timing of the bid is driven by the June Primary Bid timelines. There are contractual provisions that may be forced into play if the transfer numbers are unsubscribed.

Thank You,

Mike Flores, President
The US Airways Master Executive Council
AFA-CWA

I smell a base or two closing. With the e175s coming my moneys on pit. Its no secret that tempe has said that there are too many bases. As much as I want to come back I dont wanna come back and sit around in a crash pad and never fly and take flying from others that arent flying either. then have to worry about getting furloughed after the seasons over.

Per Inflight, if the positions aren't filled voluntarily, displacements will be done from Pit and Clt

Im surprised no one is worried about where thirty of those planes are going by the end of the year. Sure they are getting rid of 145s but those things are nearly 90 seaters... they are replacing mainline flying somewhere. Heard a rumor they are basing them in CLT and LGA. There is barely any mainline in New York already aside from the Shuttle...

The high transfer number is because of the seasonal transatlantic flights... mostly widebodies requiring more F/As and with international staffing. More E190s are coming too all to be based in PHL.

Don't they usually post these things early when something is up? They will look for tranfers first, then displace unless they are short everywhere.

How does it look right now? PHL is overstaffed, no one is flying. BOS must be extremely short, because when PHL people do fly, its to Boston to sit OPR. PIT is overstaffed, right? It seems like people get thier time in DCA. Don't know about CLT.

Since a new contract and merged operations will probably change the way the airline is staffed they are probably trying to hold off on recalling. Who knows? You talk to some people who say everyone will be recalled and there will be new hires by the end of the year but then I think Doug said no recalls this year.

How is it that other airlines are hiring? And hiring alot? United is hiring over 2000 this year and they are not getting any new planes. How is that we are starting new service and getting a few planes but the airline always seems overstaffed and they can't even recall people from six years ago much less hire. I know we are really small compared to the other airlines, but what is it? Is it the way our contract works? I don't understand how we finally make money and start to grow a little but its the same staffing just shuffled around bases?

Anyone have a clue?
