Two threads regarding staffing reductions at AA have been merged. Please make sure that the topic is not already under discussion before starting a new thread. Thank you.

Also, the thread title has been edited.

No one can understand what happened?

Your union gave it all away!

Furlough pay given eliminated in the 2003 RPA!

Letters of Agreement to reduce staffing on aircraft/routes while thousands were still furloughed!

And absolutely no respect for seniority!

The APFA showed no respect for the FA profession; unfortunately you will get no respect from AA.
Your facts are wrong... Letter of agreemeent for staffing???? That never happened...We lost that issue in the 1993... AA has had the ability to staff it's A/C any way they see fit for the last 15 years...
And furlough pay would have not prevented these capacity cuts....
Bottom line all departments will suffer due to these capacity cuts...

All departments will suffer? Pilots? Management? Please to explain that? Again. If anyone can please give facts on here..Last word from my Base Manager was that pilots are still recalling? Do you have the numbers of management being affected since you say "ALL DEPARTMENTS" will suffer? Total is 1600 jobs and 1200 of them are flight attendants. Hmmm Sounds like an even across the aboard to me.

We have stopped recalling pilots....
It only makes sense that if you cut capacity by 7.5 % , all departments will feel the cuts in one way or another.

According to my base manager here in STL...Pilot Recalls are still happening...Also. The company announced today 1600 Job cuts..Of those 1600 the company said 1200 of them are Flight Attendants? Where is that number coming from? Why is the F/A corp being hit so hard? vs the rest of the THOUSANDS of employees at AA? Can someone explain? The numbers are not making sense. With new planes arriving and no pilot furloughs being announced, Why is the overage only dealing with F/A'S? No Management, no mechanics, no agents, No executives, no support staff? Hmmm...Please do elaborate since you have all the info?

Yep, I'd like to see the answer to that too.

If you had read the associated article you would have seen the mechanics, fleet service and agents are being furloughed as well.

Actually Mikey, I did see that...It still doesn't answer the question why 1200 of the 1600 being furloghed are flight attendants? Maybe you can enlighten us all with you vast knowledge of AA facts?, and figures? I mean since you are still a apart of this workgroup right? Remember "Pull together, Win together"? "Shared Sacrafice"? Those of us being thrown on the street again, want to know? Enlighten us all!

Simple Ed, flight service is the only one still sitting with a huge overage of people. How is that so hard to understand?

Would part of the reason for the large number of FA's being subject to furlough be tied in at all to the large number that took leave's instead of full retirement? How many FA's are scheduled to return from LOA from last Septembers voluntary leaves?

There are a large number of international flights being dropped from the fall schedule. Those flights have 3 to 4 pilots, but have 11 FA's. Where the domestic flights have 3 FA's to two pilots.

what flights are we losing?

Second on the fact that pilot recalls stopped in April.

Dropping the Airbus might have an effect two. Smaller plane replaces it, same number of pilots. Another factor is the 737 deliveries. A training "bubble" of extra pilots is needed to cover the Airbus and 737 seat juggling that involves all fleets. Another factor could be their inability to judge pilot retirements especially if a threat to the lump sum rears it's head. If that happens, a thousand will retire in a month.

Could also be part of the Section 6 negotiation dance. More fun to follow at a later date.

Just some ramblings from another angle.

Let's hope the voluntary options help - again. I do think the other airlines have a limit on recall.

I know of no other airline that has an expiration of recall rights. Again, what would be the point, other than to hurt morale? If they still have the expiration of recall rights, APFA better get on that- like yesterday.

Well, if AA was offering leaves even during the busy summer travel season, could it be that AA was running fat in the Flight Services department for a good while?
