Layoffs announced at AA

I personally don't think that any senior member should have to give up there base hours to accommodate someone there junior?
Bringing down the AVL would not prevent anyone from making money. People could still drop and pick up off Hiboard. The company won't go for it, however, because they'd still be paying benefits to more people.

Ok Galleyguy this isn't going to get us anywhere. When I was in your shoes I felt the same way as you do. I lost my house and wife during one of my layoff experiences years ago. I wished one of those old farts would just retire and get out of the way so I might stay? Damn this one guy was over 70 that I worked next to! Over 30 years with the company too. I thought man this guy is selfish for being here and not getting out of my way. He had no right to stay when so many of us were getting laid off. Then I talked to him. Jeez I never knew back in the 70's these guys were laid off EVERY year. I didn't know what his personal situation was and why he wouldn't retire? I found out! He told me! After I was done talking to him all I could think of was who the hell did I think I was? I was nobody compared to this man. He started in AA when I was in diapers. I still was angry about being laid off but I never thought that someone with more seniority should get out of my way ever again.

GalleyGuy and anyone who might be affected I really do wish you all the best. I really pray that all of you are back very very soon with Godspeed and safe.

All I can say is, thank you and the speedy recall for all who are laid off.

Was this REALLY offered to APFA?

Whether the company offered it or not, the APFA should have proposed it to the company. You would think the APFA would be all for it. Not only would they not lose 1200 dues-paying members, but it would mean 1 less turn each month that the senior f/as would have to get rid of.

That's one of the problems with the APFA. They see their job as waiting for the company to propose something for them to reject. I think being proactive in situations like this must violate the APFA Constitution and By-Laws.

I heard they changed the venue and time for the STL APFA so all could attend. Check the APFA web site or call your local STL base chair for the location. I'm not going to post it on a public message board because you'll have all kinds of clowns showing up, not just our own clowns.

They have changed the location. Its no secret, the location is on the front page of the APFA web site.

You needn't worry about this clown showing up; I've got better things to do that day. 😀

hahahaha!

FA Mikey~ They have changed the location. Its no secret, the location is on the front page of the APFA web site.

I didn't see it posted on here though.
Question: why are you perusing the APFA site and this one if you quit? Why didn't you just keep the job and drop everything if you are still that much into it?

Its still a part of my life. I dont work there but friends and family still do. BTW I didnt need to peruse the APFA web site. As a matter of FYI on the subject being discussed. I typed in apfa dot org and on the first page of the site is a map and listing of all the meeting times and locations.

keeping the job and dropping everything for me would be an option if I thought I might want to come back at some point. I knew I wasn't, and I was not going waste my time bidding and dropping.

Aren't there all but just a few nAAtives American F/As based at SLT ???
Well, I am furloughed but apfa sends mail/ballots that have my base listed as SLT next to my payroll number...so I guess there are just over a 1000 non naative f/a's based in SLT.
