Flight 1003 today, watched after the doors closed a young girl attempt to move from a center seat to a window seat a row back.

Wait a minute, the 'Captain' in uniform sitting on the aisle wouldn't let her in. It seems his partner, also a 'Captain' (both had Captain's uniforms on, but there was no indication on either's part they deserved that status) came from behind and claimed the window seat forcing the girl out of his way. The FA told her "There are plenty of seats go sit somewhere else".

The girl's parents had a short discussion about a$$holes in uniform.

The parents were right.

I hope the 'Captain' and his partner had a nice flight. They traded that for a chance to be an embarrassment to real Captains that have some class.

Before we nail the pilots, if they were deadheading, then their seats are assigned. If the flight was a long one, and I don't know if it was, and if the passengers were not finished boarding yet, I don't see anything wrong with advising the young lady, in a nice way, that the seat was taken.

The aircraft door had closed. After the flight landed, from Boston to Pittsburgh, the 'Captain' who moved up to push in to the window seat the young girl tried to sit in waited for people from the next four or five rows to get by him (I didn't wait to see how far back his bags were) to go back to get his bags. If it were his assigned seat he would have taken the carry-on space there.

I have no problem giving some one the benefit of a doubt. Her parents were right these guys were a$$holes

No, I'm sorry that you believe that, but that is an incorrect assumption. I'm also sorry that you believe that the Captains were a-holes and didn't do what you would have done for that little girl. You don't have all the necessary information and I doubt anyone is going to provide you with the complete details for any number of reasons, some of which could possibly be security related. Sometimes things appear to be rude but really are not. Since most everyone that has made a comment (excluding you) about this in the negative was not there, I think it might be time to move on.

Gee, I think that was completely uncalled for. I'm a customer. (Please note that you started a thread called "Learn Some Manners" 😛 )

Things are not always as they seem, especially in commercial aviation...you only have one side of the events and there are other possibilities that may have very legitimate explanations (that you and I are not entitled to know) which may certainly exist.

So right Lark. U Pilots deadheading on scheduled trips are given priorty on EXIT ROW seats. Of course this is for their comfort, but a child cannot occupy that seat. This entire rant is suspect. I have never in 30 years of flying seen a deadheading, off duty, or active crewmember, F/A or ramper act this way. More facts please. Best to you Lark. Greeter.

Somehow.....it seems that in todays aviation world, ANYTHING anyone has to do that is not legal, is taken as an attack on somebody's manners. Piney, you are a little too quick to assume the worst here. I have been called rude, after a 5 minute visit cockpit visit by wonderful children, for sending them back to their seats so I could prepare for departure...why do you always assume the worst (heck, I guess after dealing with guys like me on this forum you would!) This seems to be my favorite words here over the last few days, but back off. Get some more info. Greeter.

The magic words are "after the doors closed" at this point all passengers, must be seated, BB&B as we call it.

The kid shouldn't have moved period.

Perhaps, since it was two Captains, one was a Check Airman and the other was a Captain who was on his I.O. E. (Initial Operating Experience). And as such, the Check Airman wanted to debrief the other pilot on the deadhead in his contractual required seat...Pilots are contractually required to be seated together on a "scheduled" deadhead. But let's spread hate and discontent towards the pilots...you people have such little minds. Grow up! You may have to work for me soon in the real world.

The must ride crew members on this flight were showing seated together window and middle seat. Not sure if the seats were the same ones in question, but they were showing to be together in the computer. HTH.

If that's the case, then it sure seems like they took a third seat for themselves.

Contractual or not, this is the kind of stuff that just made sure one family does not fly US again.

Contractually protected seats don't mean squat if there is nobody to pay for the contract.

This entire topic is very suspect in MOHO. Was it a little girl or a big girl? Just how old was she and why did she want to move to sit in between 2 Pilots and exactly what row was it?? You, know, it is always is the crews fault whenever the Passengers don't get their OWN way.

Sorry, but sometimes, the Passenger DOESN'T get his/her own way for a variety of reasons. I can't begin to tell you, just how many passengers these days jump at the opportunity to be combative and rude, in hopes they will get the big reward. A free ticket to ANYWHERE. And they will #### about the least little thing. For them it is a FREE FOR ALL.

I realize they are our bread and butter, but they are continually trying to cross the bounderies. Excuse me, but I just got home from a 4-day and the stories I could tell. Talk about MANNERS!!!!! This situation is merely trivial in my book. <_<
