What's new

Lgw Cxld For Mar 20,21,22

Aw, you are all over reacting. The loss of a few THOUSAND years of maintenance experience should not even register a blip on the radar <_< .

The imbeciles in CCY have it ALL figured out.....Too bad nobody told them about the fact of things that look good on paper don't always pan out   !!!

Three more working days to go  !!!!

This sounds like it could be another summer from hell like a couple years ago when some smart person decided to close 3 maint places at once and then wondered why we had all these planes sitting around needing work on them. Rmember the daily cancellations and russian roulette. Hmmm, will it be CLT or PIT they decide to cancel this morning?
If we are having trouble meeting schedule with a certain fleet type, (757) why doesnt someone decide to just cancel a 757 line of flight and sub it with something that we have extra of. Forgot, we dont have extra of anything so we get a piecemeal schedule every day with cascading delays and oops, a cancellation thrown in there to keep it interesting for the employees and customers.
Truly pathetic. Yesterday was one of the worst days I've even experienced at work (and thats getting harder and harder to say). 3 maint delays/substitutions in a row on PHL flights and then about 530 we get the PHL weather in on the act.
If CCY could hear how many people have had trouble on the way down (fx, delays or no bags or a combination of all) and then get the same treatment on the way back, they would understand why those of us on the front line are so frustrated. Forget all the other behind the scenes crap and treatment, its just pathetic the way the airline is being run right now.

Mechanics who have not worked on an airplane since the YS-11 days will be thrown on S-checks and Q-checks of our Airbus and 737 aircraft.

What were these mechanics doing since the YS-11 left the fleet?

Working in support shops (ie) Slides, coffee makers, batteries, wheels & brakes, O2 bottles, avionics and flight control repair shops. All super senior positions.

But those shops are all farmed out to 3rd party shops and all personnel who remain are sent down to the hangar floor to the checks.

Just got off a STT turn last night on the latest 767 that came out of Alabama. A/c 648, it had just come in from our hanger. Our maintenance had been working on the 8 pages of problems. I myself wrote a whole page of things that needed to be fixed. Including the f/a jumpseat seat belt had been threaded down to the bottom of the jumpseat, instead of at the seat. I couldn't fasten it that way.

The plane looked so clean and beautiful, but 2/3 of the reading lights were inop, 1/2 the audio didn't work, the exit sign over the overwing was missing screws and about to fall off.

Good grief! And the list goes on.... All superficial things, but geesh, couldn't they get those right?

I really got tired of saying I'm sorry your reading light doesn't work, I'm sorry you can't hear the movie, I'm sorry your seat won't recline. I'm sorry this is such a lame operation!!!!!!!!!!!

Amazing, the same people who say management doesnt know what they are doing are the same people who never reply to the fact that Usair is still flying with major companies investing . People do not invest millions of dollars in a company or a management team if they feel the company is being mismanaged. Learn the basics of buisness 101.

Perhaps they are investing for the same reason U invested in the Trump Shuttle and Midway... they see a chance to get first dibs on assets when the Fat Lady sings.

They are flying because they are burning the furniture to save the house.

Well you finally have out done yourself. Are you that stupid to think investors have faith in UAIR for your stated reason?????

News flash: Read the terms of those agreements from Air Wisconsin and Republic. They get airplanes, slots and all sorts of nice things in return for their "investment." If these deals were compared to mutual funds I would have to say they would be heavily loaded in favor of the investment firm.

Faith in UAIR management  ???? They probably are counting on their failure to ensure a good return on their investments <_< .

They would have faired better taking money from a loan shark......then again they already did  .

Once again FLIBOI.....your ignorance is legendary 😉 !!

What about the problems that aren't visible to the eye?? 🙁 Like underneath the floor boards, behind the cargo liner panels, inside the fuel tank. Thats what truely sickens many of the safety dedicated maintenance people, and the reason for many of the departures. And don't give me that crap about scaring the public!! The writing is on the wall but everyone is to blind and greedy to read it.

Faith in US Airways? Maybe some, but in case you haven't noticed, most investors stay away from US Airways.

Here's a company (a bankrupt company at that) flying hundreds of fifty million dollar airplanes and their stock trades at 76 cents a share today.

NOT what I would call a "hot stock". A term that comes to my mind is "PATHETIC".

No different than ANY other Legacy carrier right now.....US just seems to be more in the public eye about it! <_<

They are, but what'cha gonna do?
Hopefully these aircraft will be back up soon.

Oh, I'm sure they will be back very soon, but at what unforseen costs. Lets not forget that all 757,767 and a330 S and C checks are outsourced. 🙁 These planes went through the CLT hangar for years with some of the best mechanics working them. Those days are long gone and many of us worry daily what the final outcome will bring. 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁

I just worked the LGW flight from PHL on the 19th. We worked one leg and were scheduled to D/H on flt 95 to CLT on the 21st. The ticket counter on the morning of the 21st was a madhouse to say the least. They were putting some passengers on continental to IAH then to either CLT or PHL. They were also offering everyone $400.00 and a free ticket or $600.00. Now the flight is to be down for 3 days. That is a lot of cash. There were non-revs listed...LOL...Where the hell they thought they were going was a mystery to me. The flight to PHL leaving that morning that we arrived had some seats open but the flight to CLT the next day was way oversold. We wanted to turn right around and go home. They would NOT let us get on that flight to avoid bumping another 13 passengers to make room for the crew on the 21st flt to CLT. They said we could jumpseat if we paid the $73.00.....Again, nothing suprising.....LOL! ! ! ! Our captain said that there were two a330's out and one was to have been back on property but was still in Alabama. He said that they (alabama) were to pay usairways for everyday that they didn't have the aircraft returned. I don't know how true that is. It's a disaster to say the least not to mention EMBARASSING ! ! ! !

I remember in Management 101, they told us that Chapter 11 is generally considered "bad."
