Based off the July 2012 schedule as it stands, here are the top airports for AA and Eagle. It's been a while since I've had reliable OAG data to query, but this might help out as y'all try to figure out which stations might stay insourced...

Connection has 122 daily flights, 61 @ ORD, not worth listing in a table

JFK: True, there are fewer mainline flights, but as of Apr 3, 37 of the 66 Eagle flights will be two-class CRJ-700s, for a total of 80 two-class flights.

I understand the issues that raises, given that you would obviously rather see more mainline two-class flights than Eagle flights, but is the AA/Eagle combined presence really smaller than it was 20 years ago? Depends on the fleet mix that LGA saw in 1992. Weren't very many 757s in the fleet at that point, so it would have been MD-80s and maybe some 767s/DC-10s. I see quite a few 757s and 738s in the schedule today, so the seat count may be the same or even higher than in 1992.

IIRC, AA obtained some LGA slots in the TWA asset purchase, probably causing AA to have more flights today than in March, 2001, before that deal was finalized. Good thing Arpey's offer from several years ago to retire some RJ slots was rejected - the feds said they'd be doled out to others if AA stopped using them.

109 total departures pales next to Delta's schedule, but still looks fairly impressive.

History may show that another Arpey blunder was his failure to offer US cash in exchange for its LGA slots that it gave away to DL in exchange for DCA slots plus $65 million. As I'm certain WT would agree, that was a very advantageous deal for DL.

That's a big maybe. Far too early to predict whether or not US LGA slots swapped with Delta will be profitable.

Does anyone have a good guess of when we will start seeing the layoffs take place at the outsourced stations not on this list?

Just a guess, but it would have to be after an agreement is reached with the TWU, or the company gets court approval to abrogate the contract.

Here's the full listing, breaking out the cities already subject to outsourcing, and those which might qualify under the term sheet:

If/when AA drops BOS-LHR, woul d that pave the way to outsource handling at BOS? Makes little sense to operate the flight and associated costs of keeping an international FA base open to run the trip with 757s to retain LHR slots that could be used elsewhere.

Just a guess, but it would have to be after an agreement is reached with the TWU, or the company gets court approval to abrogate the contract.
Maybe the poster was asking about the unrepresentative employee groups
Will the ax fall on them when the unions get the word?

Does anyone have a good guess of when we will start seeing the layoffs take place at the outsourced stations not on this list?

First of all..... not trying to be overly rude here, but if you can't read the data already present, please don't ask the question without expecting a bit of rebuke along the way...

There are two lines in the scheduled departure chart, and they are pretty explicit about what each represents.

AA's got 40 departures at BOS, and the proposed outsourcing floor is for 20 departures or below. It's going to take a lot more of a reduction at BOS before anyone discusses outsourcing....

Second of all.... AA's term sheet for the FA's eliminates the split domestic/international crew bases, and BOS will likely remain a base for domestic flights. Once the integration takes place, there's little to no incremental cost to maintaining the routing

Third of all.... what makes you think AA is even considering dropping BOS-LHR?

DL dropped out because AA and BA are carrying between 55 and 65% of the traffic. He with the better pattern of service usually wins, despite the belief that aircraft type alone will dictate the average business traveler's buying decision. And right now, AA/BA have a pattern of service which is capturing the peak & off-peak travel quite nicely (BA in the peak departure hours, and AA in the cleanup position). With revenue pooling in place, it doesn't matter who operates the metal.

This is good stuff, E. Thanks for doing the legwork.

Thanks, and it's just started, Kev. I'm just waiting for some free time to do some before & after comparisons for a 2009 schedule vs 2012 schedule for DL and UA to see where those "merger benefits" were.

First off, I didn't catch that DL is ending BOS-LHR, although it was reduced to 1x they haven't discontinued the route. Secondly, while it may appear from your unattributed and perhaps unauthentic that 20 departures is the proposed threshold its entirely conceivable more comes into play-perhaps ASMs, logistical considerations, operating costs at certain stations-I don't know. What I do know is when evaluating any data set you should never draw conclusions with certainty. It just seems to me given the ATI benefits and downgrade to 757s AA really doesn't have an interest or compelling need to serve this route. Face it, no one expects to fly to London on 757s-I could understand flying 757s to Bristol, Dublin, Edinburgh, or even Manchester but London? Seriously? I've only taken it once since April 2011 when the evening flight became 757 and vividly remember Britons onboard joking that this plane was heading to Manchester Ontario. No thanks, never again. BA is much better and provides consistent and professional service with better facilities on both ends, and I've even gotten NF several times on the route.
