The 757 when it goes to Lisbon, does it go straight over there over the Azores? Or does it take the newfoundland routing?

Newfoundland is closer to a great circle route than the Azores are, so I expect they take that route. I understand, however, that the North Atlantic track vary day-to-day depending on winds.

OK Thanks, I was tracking a few flights and one that caught my eye was an Alitalia 763 from ORD-MXP flying just to the north of me. Then I saw COA64, a 752, Newark to Lisbon going straight out south of Long Island.

Just from seeing the various flights heading across the Atlantic to Europe, the normal departure routing out of the NYC area seems to be offshore from L.I. Probably has to do with all the traffic to/from New England that goes over L.I.

The ORD departures - got me. Seems I've read that Canadian ATC fees have gone up quite a bit and that airlines are making a bigger effort to stay out of their airspace as much as possible.
