Lot's of route cuts to announce...

Eff 15 December 2004:
LaGuardia-Midway

Eff 9 January 2005:
Boston-Fort Lauderdale
Boston-San Jose
Boston-Seattle

Fort Lauderdale-Caracas
Fort Lauderdale-Santo Domingo
(both of these may become peak season routes from what I hear; they will still operate during summer and winter breaks; FLL-PAP, which has had excellent yields, is staying).

Also, Boston-Halifax will not operate during the winter as planned; and JFK-Grand Cayman won't operate this winter either.

My guess is it's freeing up aircraft for the 15 equiv aircraft being grounded (as announced with the 3Q earnings). Domestic drops about 5%.

I was really surprised by th BOS cuts. AA has such a presence in BOS that I would certainly think that AA could hold their own in the market. Is SWA with MHT/PVD really having that much of an effect on the yield along with Jetblue? Just wondering........

Could this be freeing up a/c for the expanded International flying?
Maybe. Here's what some of those aircraft are going to be doing:

I'm glad I'm based at JFK! Those San jose will be t/a's which will go quite Jurrasic, seniority wise.

Last week, Arpey said that non-hub point to point flying would diminish, especially where AA maintained connecting service. BOS-West coast seems like a logical place to make such cuts, considering the connecting opportunities at JFK, ORD and DFW.
