Major Announcement Concerning Charlotte Air Svc.

According to the local noon news on Charlotte's WBTV there will be an announcement tommorrow (Thurs.) at 1400 by Charlotte's mayor concerning local air service.
Does anyone have any clues on this ?

Airtran is supposed to be announcing a new city pretty soon. Maybe they'll try to get in CLT before WN does.

I don't think there are that many gates available in CLT...except for the gate ATA was using.

My money would be on jetBlue, as well, as it would hold a financial center triangle... New York, San Francisco, and Charlotte. It could run a couple of 320s daily between OAK and CLT (lots of Bank of America employees!) and JFK and CLT, and operate 190s to FLL and IAD. If jB does this, it's a very smart move.

Yep AirTran was here twice once as Valujet and left.

Sources say flights to ATL and BWI, don't really see that as much competition.

CLT paper reported the other day that a member of Airtrans BOD lives in CLT and would do what he could to bring Airtran to CLT to bring down airfares.

Presumably, CLT is a whole new market with US Airways in a weakened state... Not exactly the same situation as when ValuJet serve CLT years ago...

Yea, the poor airtran BOD, " it actually costs more to fly from ATL to CLT than to drive" obviously somehting needs to be done about this.

Looks like its AirTran.. jetBlue will follow shortly.

With 15 A320's on order and 7 E190's coming online jetBlue needs to go someplace.

The water is getting bloodier by the day.. Sharks are coming..

Watch out USA320, better clean up that resume.
