I just looked at the Dec 5 APL and it shows 16 pilots as being MAA check airmen.
So at least in part, the jobs did go to APL pilots.

All,
Every Check Airman and every Line Route Instructor at MAA is a furloughed Mainline pilot. Check the APL. If you are AAA ALPA go to the pilots only website and do a search of Furlough Administrator messages. It was either March 15 or April 15 that the Administartor posted the job announcement that MAA was indeed searching for qualified pilots to be Check Airmen. Let's talk about Eastern SCABS and non-APL pilots from Contract Training being used to pick up those planes.
