Monster snow storm this weekend. Weather forecasters are predicting 18" to 24" of snow with blizzard conditions.

Yeah - I'm scheduled to fly PHL-MCO-PHL-MCO on Saturday. It's going to be a long day. Picked the wrong week to quit smoking🙂

I really didn't appreciate the storm we had last weekend. We're still sliding on the ice here. :cold:

One of our guys fell on the ice yesterday at work and cranked up his wrist pretty bad. He'll be out of commission for awhile.

If you're speaking of CLT, you're definitely right, they couldn't push back my plane because of the ice.

Remain calm.
I for one, am so sick of snow! I am tired of shoveling out....
Especially tired of having to find a spot in the crew lot after these major dumps of the white stuff...
I cant make it to the crew bus without busting my arse!

I cant wait for spring..
Please let it come early!

Yeah, this global warming is getting old. Glad I'm home watching it instead of working. Be careful guys and gals.

Jim

This snow storm is now going to be the worst in the record books for DC... (so they are saying on the news...)

When will we work again???
the people in Tempe have no clue what this is about...

Already cancelled out for tomorrow. They are getting better at figuring you cannot beat certain wx events. and I commend them for that . Tomorrow, walking into town , to my favorite pub for a cold pint with no cars. With the wife and the dog. Nothing better.............

The Delmarva Peninsula and southern New Jersey are under a Winter Blizzard Warning. PHL is going to be a mess.

Folks this is way to far off topic of the NE snow storm. Either discuss the snow storm & it's problems or we will just close it. Political discussions belong in the Water Cooler. I have now removed the off topic & political comments & posts. Keep it on the topic of the storm & what is happening with US operations.

Thank you in advance.

Anybody know what this stuff is? I've been around for several decades here and have never seen a "declared systems irregular operations" provision invoked. I've seen my share of irregular operations, but what exactly are they getting at here? Do they expect all pilots and flight attendants to immediately make their way to the crew room and hang out until Sunday?

I was wondering the same thing. Must be one of those side letters we had no idea existed.
I flew a couple of legs today through CLT. The out stations had extra sections scheduled this PM to take passengers through CLT to make connections originally scheduled through PHL.
Maybe these IO's are what that refers to. These extra sections seem like a good idea though.

As it pertains to rescheduling......

1. Once a pilot reports for a trip, the Company may reschedule such pilot to maintain schedule or substitute another crew on a part of his trip to maintain scheduled operations in accordance with published timetables at any time during his trip subject to the provisions of this Paragraph (F) and Section 12(H) above. Such pilot will be advised of his new duty assignment within two (2) hours (during normal operations) or three (3) hours (during system irregular operations as declared by the Director of Crew Scheduling or his/her
designee) of his being notified that he has been rescheduled.

3. The Company shall make a reasonable effort to schedule such pilot to arrive back in his domicile no later than the time he was originally scheduled to return, but in no event later than six (6) hours (during normal operations) or eight (8) hours (during system irregular operations as declared by the Director of Crew Scheduling or his/her designee), unless beyond the control of the Company.

Last leg of trip swap.....

a. A pilot may voluntarily substitute for another pilot on the last segment of a trip pairing. Additionally, a pilot may voluntarily substitute for another pilot on the last active segment of a trip pairing (i.e., when the last actual flight segment of the trip pairing is a deadhead by surface or air) except when the Director of Crew Scheduling or his/her designee has declared a system irregular operation or, if at the time of the request, the original pilot is in the process of being rescheduled. In the event that the Director of Crew Scheduling or his/her designee has declared a system irregular operation or the original pilot is in the process of being rescheduled, a pilot may request to voluntarily substitute for the original pilot on the last active segment of a trip pairing and the Company may permit the substitution.
