More EMB-190s to replace 737 for 2008

Aquagreen737,

I understand the math and I understand the numbers. Furthermore, you need to read a little more clearly so you can correctly respond.

I said, "the Company will begin taking delivery of 37 new A320 family aircraft in 2008 and apparently the A340" and I never gave an exact count.

Will some EMB-190s replace B737s? Yes, but the East attrition is greater than the number of lost Group 2 positions and there will be Group 2 and above vacnices, which will be at least 60. That's not too bad since the next Permanent Bid periods will be for October through December.

In addition, I doubt the A430 (if obtained) will be based in PHX since service to China, Japan, Moscow, and Tel Aviv, if operated, will be flown out of PHL.

USA320Pilot

Junebug,

Either you made a mistake or you are purposely misrepresenting information.

The first post you quoted was from A320 Driver and the second quote was from A320Pilot.

Best regards,

It's easy to make the mistake Junebug - there's too many people with similiar screen names - but those are two separate posters.

And why do they all want to have Airbus in their screen names? Are they proud of that? 😀

Yes I did.

I, Junebug172, do hereby apologize to USA320Pilot for the incorrectness of my post. It was unintentional and I will make every effort to not let it happen again.

This article gives the general idea......

Flights are packed - time to cut back

Less capacity + more demand = higher fares. It really is as simple as that since the folks in the SandCastle apparently don't know any other way to make money.

Jim

Jim:

This is precisely what needs to happen right now, or at least within the next 6 months. US needs to cut capacity by about 6%, and raise mid-level fares about 20%. This will be slightly revenue positive, reduce the load factor to the low to mid 80's, and will give the company some breathing room for operational miscues.

Why doesn't Tempe understand this? It's simple mathematics which in the LONG TERM will bring the average yield up while keeping capacity available to cover for operational problems. WN has been playing this game for years and they are very successful with it.

Hell will freeze over before a certain f/o reciprocates.

Whichever way you spin it, the bottom line is that since the EMBs are replacements rather than growth more East guys than expected will have to fly the EMB, rather than a 737 or bigger. So now, attrition is all you have left, at least until Age 65 passes.

The EMB-190 max Captain pay per the Transition Agreement is 102.56. Current Max FO pay per LOA93 is 109/98/94. Max FO pay is $61 on the EMB.

So a First Officer senior enough to upgrade, but not senior enough to hold 737 or better, would have to give up his schedule with 15-16 days off, decent trips and maybe 90-95 hours in order to sit reserve, get guarantee and fly 5-6 short legs a day up and down the East Coast. Looks like a pay cut as well as a loss of lifestyle to me.

The interesting part is that these same FO could probably hold one of the 49 B757/A320 Captain slots in the latest West bid.

A returning furloughee expecting to go to the 737 at $94 might end up in the EMB for $61. No wonder they're bypassing.

Whichever way you spin it, ....

You have no idea that you cannot "spin" actual numbers. You can "spin" feelings and unnamed sources but actual numbers, you are acting like a fruitcake to think that can happen.

When the numbers indicate that the last six quarters US west lost money and US east made thirty five times what west lost, how would you spin that otherwise? Would you say Dougie hates the west and wants to make them look bad? Where is your spinner gonna go?

You westies are losers. Even Dougie knows it.

Get real.
