more micromanagement?

So, what you are saying is that some west crews violate FAA required procedures?
Oh please! The East and the West still have seperate procedures for reporting a wet seat cushion. Who cares?! Just get it replaced. Stop this who violated what crap! <_<

I'm sure it happens on the "East" also, but if it is required to be written up, "THEN WRITE IT UP!" If it isn't then it is a violation no matter which "side" it is on. The FAA is starting to watch things more closely these days, so crews better CYA!. If the west procedure requires a write-up, and they don't, it is a violation. Same for the "East".

Every airline has to deal with their FAA Inspector's idiosyncracies. Thus, every airline accomplishes many of the sames tasks completely differently. Seat cushions are just one example.

Your first statement is correct. Which does not imply the second statement.

One of the former AWA POIs told me that they enforced the logbook write-up on seat cushions because they got too many complaints from A&W pax about having to sit in wet seats. Emphasis on an apparent idiosyncrasy may actually be a response to a corporate problem rather than a difference of opinion by an FAA inspector.

Also, the thread has evolved to a question of why some west pilots write it up and some do not.

Also, pilot leave a/c with passengers with turbine (APU) running and no mechanics around? So, that is OK now? Wonder what the FAA has to say about that?

Yeah, that happens. Makes for a nice, cool cabin. 110 degrees in PHX today and the jetway air-conditioners suck.
Wonder what the FAA has to say about that?
Don't know. Never asked. Why don't you call the FAA and see what happens? (It wouldn't surprise me if you already have.)

You're funny. Egging people on to put their jobs on the line and fight your battles for you -- as long as they don't dare inconvenience you in the process.
