What's new

More of the usual off topic posts

The problem with the IAM is they take their members dues and promise them the world. We're going to fight for you, we're going to give you the best representation you can get and what do they do? They rely on a former stock clerk/cleaner from a hub to go into negotiations with professional negotiators. I'm sure when the professional negotiators saw that they knew what the result would be. It's like putting a JV football team up against the Super Bowl champs. If you're an IAM member I'd be asking some serious questions of the Roachman and the so called "Professional" negotiating comittee that was put out there.

Professional? They had one professional.

And Mr William O'Driscoll, President of DL 142 has negotiated more contracts in the Airline Industry then anyone else.

He was negotiating contracts while you were in diapers.

And every IAM member except one on the committee had prior negotiation experience.

See I would not expect you to know this since you are not an IAM member nor a US employee, just another sideline QB.

The playing field was not level, but once again you are just a sideline QB who hates unions.

You're right, the playing field was not level. The reason it wasn't was because of poor representation from the IAM and not because of some evil conspiracy you'd like everyone to believe. It's just easier to label everyone a sideline QB when you can't come close to responding to valid arguments. One thing is for sure and that is when the starting QB on a team is under performing or in this case not performing at all they are replaced by another QB. Where does that one come from?? You guessed it!! THE SIDELINE!!!!

The playing field was not level because of US being in Bankruptcy and Section 1113 of the code.

Maybe you should go read up on it and then you might understand what happened and why.

But keep trying.

That's the union line you're still out there shouting. Fact is the IAM got outmanuevered at every turn and now you have no one to blame but yourself as you were part of the negotiating team. What happened to the IAM is a direct result of your ineptness as a "negotiator". Maybe you should spend some time getting yourself educated on how the negotiation process works and then maybe YOU will understand as obviously you don't have a clue today.
I know what happened and have studied that type of processes for a long time. As a matter of fact I can even give you some books on it. You probably won't like it though because it shows in black and white where you were beaten. Would you like me to dog ear the pages for you?

I know how the process works, this was not traditional Section 6 Negotiations it was concessionary bargaining with a gun held to your head.

Maybe you should take the time and learn about it and maybe you would understand what happened and why.

No union on the property could bring back a T/A that would involve layoffs of 50% of the workforce.

Maybe you should figure out there was over 100 years of experience on the Negotiating Committee for the IAM.

Maybe you should realize what the effect of Section 1113 has on the process.

But it is easier for you to attack people who were involved and actually tried to make things better, but since you have no dog in this fight, I would only expect you to attack and criticise instead of educating yourself on the process.

Let's face facts shall we?? YOU failed the membership. You dug the hole the IAM was in BEFORE Chapter 11 was filed and YOUR stance was the one that led to what happened. It's hard to fight facts huh Mr. Knowitall. YOU blew it and now the membership has to deal with YOUR ineptness then you have the audacity to belittle Tim Nelson in another thread about how he had no experience. Where was yours Mr. Negotiator when you went head to head with the company and they beat you to a pulp like a wet newpaper.
It's just sour grapes and you can't stand you were beaten. I know the process. Maybe it's YOU that needs the education. You make this too easy!!

Glad to see all your misinformation and insults once again.

See if you were actually a US employee and a IAM Mechanic and Related Member you would know the IAM Leadership from Roach down canvassed the system and met with the membership at the union halls and at the workplace and the MEMBERSHIP informed the leadership not to negotiate with the company.

And you have no idea of what happened, but feel free to keep attacking and insulting me if you think it makes you a big man and makes your post believable.

Would that be the same membership that ratified the last proposal? I must say....what a fine job of canvasing. You should be proud. Imagine what you could've accomplished had the IAM spent their dues paying members on some professionals for the negotiating table instead of Driscoll and the ones they put out there. You say he's got a lot of experience huh? Look at what all the experience got you.

Interesting link Dell....I would expect nothing less from a IAM website. I bet the "Bargaining to Win" topic was chaired by who?? 700?? Now THATS funny!!

You can't educate or explain anything to the union haters on this board.

Ignorance is bliss.

750,000 Members VS 27,000 Employees.

Divide those numbers with the compensation.
